Rather odd question

Okay, back to the original question: My question is, is it necessary to wear some form of underwear when working in the nursing field?

When I was in school (the 1st time for my LVN - 12 yrs. ago) the uniform was white and the teachers required us to go through "panty-checks" which were random. They'd ask us to bend over and check us out for "proper undergarment attire."

Any of you ever have to do this?

Wow the panty police. In this day and age of lawsuits that would be instructor career suicide I would think. Its not like if someone was wearing colored underwear they couldnt tell without making you bend over.

There are several girls in my class that wear thongs to class but not clinicals I dont think. However where I work one of the unit managers wears thongs to work.

For the original question just wear loose boxers you wont notice much difference and you wont have a yellow circle on the front of your white scrubs. Running down the hall for a code blue with no underwear ........that just sounds painful.

Also, keep in mind that most sinks in hospital are at waist level or below depending on how tall you are. An incident of splashing could wind up leaving very little to the imagination. It's disrespectful to your colleagues and patients to put them in that awkward position of seeing you let it all hang out. As for undergarment requirements, I guess it's up to the individual facility. I think most go under the assumption that you will wear underwear and do not realize that they need to address those who like to "go commando." My .

Something I was thinking of... There's been alot of mention of yellow stains. Have any of you ever had to do men's laundry??? What about the fecal forget-me-not stains?????

Where do those go if you're not wearin' underwear ?
