When did you start your first nursing job, what year? October 2010
What unit/type of facility did you start on? Medical unit
How long was your orientation? 2 weeks
How long before you felt like you were getting it? I have days where everything feels like a hot mess and days where I feel I have the hang of it. It all depends on the type of patients I get and what goes on during a shift. I wish my orientation was longer as I still feel clueless to certain things but I ask enough questions and find information when I need it. The staff are very supportive and my manager is thoroughly involved with her staff so it makes me feel comfortable that I can turn to someone for assistance.
How long did you stay on your first unit before trying something new? I am so new to it and just decided to answer the questions but I hope to stay for a while but in the future I do want to get my masters and teach.

LTC
2-3 weeks
There are some days I feel like I got it and other days that I don't. I do have the advantage that I worked there as a CNA, so I knew the residents, which made it easier.
I don't plan on leaving anytime soon.
