93 questions

I just took the NCLEX yesterday morning. My computer shut off after 93 questions, I feel horrible. I hear tell of people passing and failing at 75 questions and the same for people who've gone up to 265 questions. Has anyone ever passed at 90 some questions? I don't know what 93 means when it comes to line of competence...

Never certain, but probably means you had a high enough percentage to pass. meanwhile, try not to freak out. Can you check online to see results?

Mine stopped at 75 and I was sure I failed. Cried all the way home...

Then ended up passing! Don't stress out.

Good luck!

yeah, ive been checking, nothing yet....=(, horrible feeling of impending doom...pearson supposedly takes 48 hours, and i think maryland boards are closed on sunday. So im not sure if its going to show up tomorrow or monday. but its horrible. When i walked out of the room, i must have been pale or something. this lady was like im sure you didnt do all that bad. and then she was like where did you stop? I was like at 93. And the she was like, Oh, im so sorry. I dont even know if she works there, i was just so upset.

FWIW I stopped at 87....felt like junk....results were posted on a Sunday and I passed!! I stayed on the couch and cried for 48 hours I was so sure I failed.

I was sure I had failed when mine cut off at 75. I think everyone feels this way no matter where it cuts off because the test adjusts to challenge you. I was so relieved to find out I had passed. The lady you talked to obviously did not know anything about NCLEX. Those centers often give many different types of tests; some may be structured so that you fail if you are cut off. I'm sure she meant well she just didn't know.

The number of questions you get is just a number. The test is just so hard to predict. Best to try to distract yourself while you wait for the results. If your state participates in the quick results you can check with Pearsonvue 48 hours after your exam time. Otherwise some have seen their license on the BON website before the 48 hours ( does not happen often though ). Good luck.

Mine cut off at 90 and I passed, don't sweat it.

Mrwrong82, Maryland does not post on the BON on Sundays, however, Pearson does post on Sunday. Check back today. And, relax, if possible. I have not spoken to one person who felt like they did pass the NCLEX (even though they all did). Maryland Nursing schools are good, they prepare you well. Best Wishes! You will have that RN number before you know it. (And, keep in mind, even though you can pass at 75 questions, NCLEX likes to try out questions for future tests and that could be why you had an odd number of questions.)

Thank you all so much, I still feel pretty terrible, but listening to you all is in a way "therapeutic". So if I finished the test at 0945 on friday, will pearson release it exactly on 0945 this sunday or is it like around that time? In anycase, Thank you all, and I will let you know soon enough what happened =)
