Question for Ohio RNs

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Hello ladies. I will be graduating in December with my RN (Associates Degree). I have been peeking at jobs at Rainbow and other Cleveland and Akron area hospitals. I would like to owrk NICU, but am open to Peds, OB, and even ER. However....I am noticing that a lot of jobs especially at UH and the bigger hospitals in Akron seem to want BSNs. Is this accurate or is it just the preference. I am worried that I am going to have to settle for a job I do not want.

Good morning.

I just graduated from school on 6/25, took the NCLEX 7/31 and passed. I was hired at Akron Children's and I have a diploma.

Good luck with your search.

I graduated from Nursing School 2.5 years ago with my diploma and did not have any trouble finding a job. I am in eastern ohio and western pennsylvania on the state line by Youngstown. I am sure depending on the area NICU, OB and Peds jobs are hard to come by in this area. Usually you have to start on a general floor first. And work hard to get into one of these speciality areas.

Hi!

I graduated in May 06 with an associates degree and I just got a job in postpartum at Metro. It was difficult to get in (do to HR) but it is do-able!!

I think it is just a preference but I graduated in 2003 with a diploma and had not had any issues with finding a job.

just reading, I will finish with an associates degree. I am an LPN now and felt like all there was to do is LTC and I didn't want that. I was afraid after I finish my RN with an associates every where would want a BSN. Looks Hopefull Thanks

hey I just graduated in May with my Associates. I am now working in the NICU at Rainbow. They dont just take BSN students. I love it, and I dont do anything different then anyone with their BSN. If you want to know anything else PM me.

Most facilities want a BSN today. But many more are realistic and will hire to fill the need, especially staff, without the BSN. Good luck and I am sure

you will be able to get a job.
