I have a house full of kids and a great husband. We are in need of some change in our life and I am thinking about doing some travel nursing. I think there is a lot to learn in life for my kiddos and I am thinking that this would be a great way for them to see a lot and for me to continue to have income as we travel. I would like to find longer assignments...what is the longest you can do a travel assignment? How does it work as far as housing if you travel with family? Do companies help you with the upfront cost of traveling? I am so new to this, but it sounds like so much fun!!!

Hello....I am a RN and was called for an interview for this hospital. I am an ER RN and I am looking for some information about the hospital. For anyone who might work there or know of people who work there how is job satisfaction? How are benefits? Does the hospital treat their patients well? Does the hospital treat their employees well? Does the pay seem fair for the area? Any information you can give me would be greatly appretiated.

She actually told us all we are NOT allowed to visit at all today, which at first I was mad about, but then maybe she needs to spend time alone with him to say goodbye. Well...I TOTALLY disagree. If you are wanting to be an ER RN then do that. I would probably not go for the Level One Trauma Center, but honestly ER is its own world and being on the floor is not going to help. I went to ER 3 months after getting my RN license and cannot imagine being anywhere else. Now...it was and still is VERY hard, but it is all about your level of dedication. YOU CAN DO IT!!! ALicia

I am a ER RN and I am helping in the final days of my father's death. My mother is very resistant to giving pain medication and in the now into the 5th day since my Dad stopped eating and drinking he has only gotten 3 5mg doses PO. My mom worries it is going to quicken his death. Dad has been on Hospice for 18 months and I believe stroked on Sunday night and has not been able to swallow, eat, drink since. I imagine it cannot be much longer, but it is wearing on us all emotionally. A few questions....how do I encourage the use of the morphine? How long can one go without PO liquids? THis is very sad and I feel so bad for my Dad. He needs to just let go. Any help from anyone would be much appretiated!!! ALicia

Anyone work here? I am applying for an intership through them and wanted information. What is the Ft. Myers area like? Is it expensive? Any inforamtion would be great. Oh...what about colleges and schooling in general there. My husband is in nursing school and hopes to transfer if I get the internship and my daughter will be in 1st grade so I am concerned about the grade schools too:) Alicia

As far as quality programs Lorain County Community College has an excellent program if you can tolerate their crap. What you learn is great...though dealing with the administration there sucks. I have been on interviews and talked to HR Reps who have said that if they have 2 new grads and one is from LCCC, they always hire from there. Alicia

So...I am going into my last semester and it seems as though everyone's goal is to terrify me about the NCLEX. So what is the best to study with??? I am torn between studying for weeks and just taking the test and hoping for the best. Finally....I have heard a nasty rumor that there is fill-in and short answers....is that true???? Alicia

Hello ladies. I will be graduating in December with my RN (Associates Degree). I have been peeking at jobs at Rainbow and other Cleveland and Akron area hospitals. I would like to owrk NICU, but am open to Peds, OB, and even ER. However....I am noticing that a lot of jobs especially at UH and the bigger hospitals in Akron seem to want BSNs. Is this accurate or is it just the preference. I am worried that I am going to have to settle for a job I do not want. Alicia

My ultimate goal is to work in a NICU. I refuse to accept anything less out of life as I have worked so hard to get to where I am now. I am a mother of 4 little ones 6 and under and I have slowly but surly worked my butt off to get through nursing school. It might have tken me longer then some, but I am now one semester away and finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. How do I prepare? What should I be reading? What journals should I be subscribing to? Does anyone know of any NICU nurse internship programs? I live in Ohio, but I am 100% open to picking up and moving rather then settling for a job that I might not want in an area that I will not be satisfied in. I will never forget in 8th grade my mom had a friend who was a Neonatologist at Children's Hospital in Toronto. She persopnally gave me a tour of the NICU and I have never wanted anything else in life then to be there. Thank you for all of your assistance. Alicia Bunn
