Question for everyone who started this fall

We got our acceptance letters in June, which told us the date of orientation. Orientation was the friday before the first day of class (a monday). We were given a schedule for the whole semester, on the first day of class... But it has changed slightly due to furloughs, etc. Our clinicals start in October, with half of the class doing clinicals in Oct. and the other half in Nov. We were told to reserve all day on Thurs & Fri for clinicals and lab (when we're not in clinicals) and we have lecture on Mon & Wed from 9-11:30. Every school is different tho, check with your school. I wasn't able to keep my job, I had to switch jobs and mainly work weekends only. Its a lot of work. Don't want to scare you, but I understimated the time restraints... You might be.

Clinicals started the next week after school started

No orientation, but I got my letter March 10th, and signed up for my classes March 21st, so I've known my clinical time months in advance. But there's NO way I'm working during the school year.

Jenn: It's actually both. The website shows clinicals on Tuesdays but times TBA. In the past I believe they've been 630-1230, but why would they change it from 630-1230 to TBA if it hadn't changed? It doesn't really matter when it is because my job is willing to work around my school schedule. They just need to know in advance when doing the scheduling for the month of January. Certainly knowing the week before when schedules are made a month in advance would be unacceptable for my employer.

Tracy: I'm not too worried about the work aspect, I don't need a full 40 hours or anything. I have a really good job with good benefits, paid sick time, paid vacation, great pay, flexible hours, and a boss who is willing to work around my school schedule. I'm definitely the caliber student who can handle it, so no worries.

I think you should know 30 days in advance for sure but is there any way you can call the school and find out? Or maybe it just says TBA because the facility is not known yet? Good luck, I think it's great your job is willing to work around ur schedule :)

i started classes in the middle of aug and clinical starts toward the end of sept!

Also, we start Sept. 3 and they told us to expect clinicals to being late Sept, early Oct. Hope that helps!

Can you email someone at the school and ask them and just let them know why?

Mi Vida: I will definitely do that if they don't send me any information about clinicals starting by November. As long as my employer knows by Dec. 15th, I'm okay. I'm hoping in the mean time they send me info on it.
