So in my younger years (when I was 18, 19...Im 32 now). I bounced between 3 schools because it was really hard to get classes in my area. Anyways, I would get on the waiting list at all three schools for the same classes and which ever opened up is where I would go.

Well i just pulled my transcripts from all thress school and almost fell over when I discovered I have not one, not two but 22 W's on my record. Apperently some of the classes that I was waitlisted for the teached actually added me to the class (even though I was not there on the first day of class...got in the same class at another school). Since I was enrolled int he class and actually ever attened (not even one day) at the end the teachers dropped me and gave me W's....

I am freaking out here. Will 22 W's screw me for the nursing program? My GPA across all school is a 3.2 but those w's look AWFUL!!!! I have no idea what to do. I thought about calling the school to see if I could get them removed but they are from almost 12 years ago...

I am wondering the same thing! I have 7 just from when I was young and stupid. I hope they wont affect me getting into nursing school.

In my area, if your science classes are more than 5 years old you will need to retake them FYI. Sounds like an awful situation and you should contact the school to hopefully get them wiped off your record. And if not then I would contact the school you plan on applying and explaining the situation. But how could you never look at your transcripts before?

To be honest, I never really had a need too. I always knew my grades. And every time I needed to provide a school with a transcript it was always an "official" copy which had to be sealed and hand delivered or mailed.

Some schools lets you expunge your past and start over from scratch, talk to your and see if they have this option.

Hmmm I wonder how that would work since some of the classes where used to get my Degree. When you say start from scratch do you mean erase everything and start over? Hmmm I'm starting to think 22 W's is not that bad LOL. There is no way in hell I would want to redo 4 years of college lol

I think it depends on the school that you're applying too..

However, from what I know, they only look at the GPA of the pre-reqs along with your score on the entrance exam.

Ohh... well you didn't mention the degree in the OP. So yes that wont be applicable. I would say just get your transcripts evaluated with the nursing adviser and see what happens. Good Luck :)!

I don't have 22 Ws but I did have a few and was concerned. I would contact the nursing program you are interested in. My program doesn't count/look at Ws, they just don't count in as anything. Your program may be like that. If worse comes to worse you can always explain the situation to your nursing program (I was so involved in my education I had to travel to multiple schools yadda yadda). I wouldn't stress too hard. Good luck!!!!

So, you were never charged for any of those classes? Just curious. That is so strange!

Well that's kinda sticky. In California the have whats called a BOGFW (Fee waver) You are awarded this based on your income when you apply for financial aid. So did I pay cash money out of my pocket no, was the government charged for these classes I can only assume yes.

What ****** me off is I was on the waiting list. The only way to get in a class is if someone who is registered does not show up on the first day. So that means that dropped some student who didn't show up on the first day only to add someone who also didn't show up on the first day??? *** how on earth does that make sense? :banghead:

I'm in Cali too and I could see that happening, although I don't have any Ws.I've had friends who were way down on waitlists but ended up admitted to classes without knowing because people wouldn't show up. The BSN program I was accepted to penalizes applicants for all Ws and other things. Some of the community colleges in my area are going that route too, it's just so competitive. But the best thing to do is to contact the program you're wanting to attend and see what their requirements are. Every program is different in what they'll look at. Best of luck to you.
