Contact the ombudsman. This person is supposed to advocate for the residents. Maybe video tape an incident without videotaping a resident to have proof.

I had a family emergency and had to stop working for a while. I asked for 2 weeks off but because I was a new hire they refused to give me time off. I had no choice but to stop working. I was only scheduled for 3 days those 2 weeks.

Our covid cases have been going up daily. I know a couple of students who are graduating in may 2020 from the same college I did and have gotten a job. They'll be starting in June. I have considered nursing homes, home healthcare, clinics, dialysis. Everything I can think of but travel nursing.

Hi. I am a new grad who has recently passed my NCLEX. I have been applying to a ton of jobs but they all have been denied. the community I live in hires new grads quickly. so far everyone I graduated with got a job offer within 2 weeks of passing their NCLEX. I contacted one of the hospitals to inquire and was told I was coming up as ineligible for rehire and they told me what I had to do to reverse it. I was told that theyll come up with a decision in a week. It's been 3 weeks and I havent heard anything. I contacted them a week ago to check on the status but I was told that theyll call me back. they havent yet. has anyone been in the same situation and can give me advice on what to do. I feel like this blemish on my background report is whats keeping me from getting a job interview.

You're going to do the CNA stuff in clinicals during first semester*

I wish I would have knew what a nurse does so I can study what a nurse does, instead of studying the diseases. To be prepared, Start learning the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, interventions/implementing, evaluations. Learn nursing interventions for medical problems like for example your pt is malnourished, so as a nurse what are some interventions to help the pt get healthier. Remember you can't prescribe them vitamins that's the doctor job, and you can't tell them to eat what they don't want to eat. You need to plan and see what works for the patient and assess the patient to see if it works. If not, what are you going to do? Start thinking like that. Also learn maslows pyramid in prioritizing. You need to know what's more important when taking care of pts. Learn about different cultures in healthcare, like how do different ppl respond to pain. Do they ask for meds or would they refuse meds? If they refuse meds, what would you do as a nurse to help them with pain. You can't encourage them to take the meds because it's against their culture. For clinicals look up what CNA does, you're going to need to know because that's what your going to do and the actual nursing stuff. Also look up youtube videos on how to do nursing assessments of a special body system, like cardiovascular nursing assessment. After you watch all the body systems assessments. Watch the head to toe assessment. You're going to have to perform assessments on pts and answer questions. Also learn all your lab values. What's normal what's not. If not What does it mean. And what values is an emergency/needs to be dealt with immediately. Know how to take vital signs and how often. Good luck!

How'd you change your way of thinking in level 3 and 4? Is there anything you did differently than reading the books and doing practice questions.

Hey. How was the program at North? How were the teachers and the grading? Was there anyone who was terrible or someone who was great. I just want to be prepared and ready for next semester. ☺
