Pasadena City College LVN to RN

I met with the nurse at PCC Student Health Services and she signed off on my drug screen & TB - I just uploaded the results to CastleBranch so it's pending., guess I'll find out on Monday. Regarding the uniforms, I ordered from Dove Apparel in May but it looks like they aren't going to ship until July 19 so I won't have the name badge until then - is anyone else running into this problem?

For CastleBranch, has anyone had an issue with them accepting the AHA BLS card. I got my "card" electronically, I submitted and it was returned saying they needed "front and back, with signature". Has anyone else had this problem?

I don’t know if this helps but I had 73 points going in, I needed to take 3 classes worth 5 points each. I killed myself taking 2 classes online before I applied and that bumped me up to 83 and I got in. I’m hoping to get into the 3rd class now so I don’t have to take it in fall.

Is it one set or two sets of scrubs?

Are we allowed to purchase the white uniforms elsewhere? If so, where are you getting yours?

Nurses that “only do it for the money”

I left a higher paying industry to go into nursing. I wanted to do something more meaningful. It hasn’t been what I expected. It’s not awful, I guess I just wish I’d known what I know now and stayed in my original industry. Sadly that shipped sailed.

From someone who’s lived in LA for a long time, trust me on this, make sure it has AC. Over the past 3 years, I’ve used my AC more than I did the past 15 years combined so don’t believe anyone that tells you A/C not needed. Rents haven’t really changed so that’s good

I’m working full-time (8-5, M-F) and plan to continue with that at least through the end of August. After that, I’m not sure what I’m going to do as I doubt my work will keep me part-time. I’m thinking about home health or hospice maybe. Duong.Karen1: out of curiosity, do you know what the going rate for a room is? I’ve been out of the market for awhile now ...

I calculated my score as 83. I'm not sure what the cut off is or if it's decided 100% on scores. What did you apply with?

Hi! I applied as well! In past threads the timeline given to expect a response was 10 weeks. Not true this time around - I heard back 8 days after I applied. Ladies & Gents, check your email daily!
  14. THANK YOU!!! This post is so valuable! I was all but about to give up on planning to go for my BSN after all the hell it took to get into an LVN-ADN program (which I start this June). I am a quick learner. For the haters, I took Dev. Psych and Nutrition, online, concurrently, in under 16 days, and before ya'll quip about the substandard education, I also took those courses at UCLA 10+ years ago (but it was combined so couldn't transfer it - long story) and the material was the same. So, back to your story - 6 months to complete the BSN. May I ask if you were working during this time? I had to retake all my prerequisites (with working full-time and I'm a single mom of a 5 year old with no childcare from the dad) so I'm getting pretty tired as I've been at this for 8 months straight. I can do another year for LVN-RN bridge program but don't think I'll have much left in me after that. How long would you guesstimate this program to take working full-time?

Applications are due Feb. 28. Does anyone know what the points cut off are, or is it determined once all the applications are in? i haven’t taken Speech yet so I lose 5 points right there ... trying to find it online now

I’d email the counseling department. They have some conflicting information (at least on the LVN-RN Bridge program). I’m applying this month and I don’t have any Physical Activity unita but hoping it’ll be pretty easy to squeeze those in somewhere.
