Please help, this is complicated.
No.....it's called healing. As you know a wound doesn't heal over night. Give yourself time and look for a support group to join.

Trouble with IV starts on Older Adults
Regarding difficult IV starts. In my 35 years, if possible wrap the arm/hand in a warm blanket and place in a dependent position for about 5 minutes. Yes I have missed some.

Dr. told patient, "Nurses are STUPID".
It's a shame a PA said that. First of all he/she should be written up. The lack of professionalism is below the belt. I would have confronted this individual in front of their boss. He/she would have thought twice before speaking like that again.

ADN or BSN: What's the Big Deal?
I started as an ADN. Then 25 years later went back to school and got my BSN. What did I learn? Sorry to say nothing. 17,000$ for BSN behind my RN. I was blessed to have worked in many roles even as a Director in a Level II Trauma Center. My question why have the AD programs? The new grads that I encounter with an ADN I highly suggest don't wait to go back and get their BSN. How long will the AD programs last. My last thought - we all take the same state boards. I've never had a patient ask me what degree did I have. They just wanted to know if I was a Registered Nurse.

Patient brings own urine sample for preoperative pregnancy testing
As a Registered Nurse I would never use a home sample. There is too much risk. My question would be - what if they are pregnant and afraid to tell thinking the procedure would be canceled? Then the procedure would be done on a false sample and then something happen to the pregnancy. Too many RED flags. The other that jumps out is a substance abuser and don't want anyone to know?

What Do You Love About Nursing?
Nursing is not doom and gloom! Yes sometimes in schoool you have to "burn the midnight oil" so to speak. I never regret once going to nursing school. There are some things I wish I could change. If you're in an AD program finish and go straight for your BSN. Don't wait 20 years before going back to school. Nursing is rewarding. Blessings on your adventure.

Whistle blower/terminated
Just make sure you have kept notes as to dates, times and initials of individuals associated. A paper trail can be a life savor. It sound as if you want nothing but safe nursing. Please don't allow anyone to destroy what you have.

Would you report this error?
You owe it to yourself as a true nurse to follow through and report it.
