  1. Honestly, I never had a false positive. I used hand sanitizer every day and soy sauce with Chinese food. BUT, I also never did a Peth test. Mine were all urine. I feel... If you're clean, you can prove it. Always. Best of luck!
  2. I finished my monitoring today. 3 years. TPAPN. Very anticlimatic, if I do say so myself. Guess I will have an everything bagel tomorrow to celebrate. That's the biggest thing I've missed. If you just started... it's doable. Very doable. Just take it step by step. I think I'm still in shock...
  3. Three times... wow! My biggest question is, How much did it cost you?
  4. I know TPAPN can use the Peth test but does anyone have first hand knowledge of them actually using it? I'm almost done... about a month left in my contract. Whoo hoo I have a large purchase I am wanting to make and I'm wondering if I should go ahead or just wait. Thanks!
  5. Does TPAPN do blood test? I've never heard of anyone getting one.
  6. My employer only knows I'm in monitoring. She knows NO details. And a good manager, won't ask why.
  7. I live in Texas too. Educate me please, what are you worried about in commercial insect repellants?
  8. I had a test post as abnormal. My CM said it was dilute. Only thing that happened was I received an email.
  9. I recently went 7 weeks without testing. Drove we nuts towards the end... I was about to email my CM. I thinks it's all normal.
  10. I, too, left behind my babies when I went inpatient. Best decision I ever made. Unlike you, I was unable to stay clean on my own and needed to go inpatient to quit. I wish you the best of luck. It goes by quick and the little ones don't even remember me being gone, thankfully. The first visit is the hardest.... I balled after they left but it was easier the next few times.
  11. When I started my job hunt, I only applied to restriction/monitoring friendly places. As suggested above, the SNF/LTC and dialysis route. I only applied to 2 places and landed a job in dialysis. Do lots of research on this site and practice how you will respond to question and it will pay off. It's a tough road, one that many have walked before. You got this and have come so far. Best of luck! P.S. If you have been sober awhile, I know treatment centers will hire restricted license nurses as well.

Yeah, after reading and being a part of this group I realized how rare it was to NOT have to do TPAPN from that DWI. Jokes on me though... cause I'm in TPAPN now. :-/

I'm in Texas and did a declaratory statement to the BON here prior to getting my license in 2011. The DWI was from 2007. The BON had no problem with letting me sit for my exam. No monitoring program or anything. Took them forever to get back with me about it though. I had enough sense to not blow in the machine so there was no factual data that I was drunk. Just the field sobriety test and the officers word. I plead no contest and did probation with community service. All standard stuff.
  14. í ½í±† This is my biggest fear. The first day of my period is out of control. And I get tested by a dude. He's going to have to deal with it one day soon, I'm sure.
  15. I just need to complain for one second... why do I always get picked to test on my day off?! I have 3 small children, 2 of which I have to get watched now so I can go pee in a cup. The oldest is in pre-school. Ugh, so annoying. Bonus... it's in the teens here in Texas so its freezing balls outside. Yes, there are places I can go to later this evening but I refuse to pay an additional $20-$30 for a collection fee when I'm already paying $55 to piss. Sorry, rant over. Have a great day everyone!

I have a good friend who works in a GI clinic and I was asking her about possibly getting a job there. She said there are controlled substances on site (I forgot what kinds she told me) but the RNs RARELY (like twice in 4 years) give them. Sedation is done by an anesthesiologist and if a patient is very nervous, they try to get them back quickly and under sedation. She LOVES her job. She told me she didn't think my 6 month no controlled substances restriction would be a problem.
  17. I have a head cold right now too. í ¾í´§
  18. That is what happened to me. Payed $55 to Spectrum. Went to test and they wanted their $20 fee on the spot. I thought the $55 included the site fee already but apparently not. So, one test cost me $75. Glad I found a job!
  19. Ash2213: I think we may have the same new CM. I lost track of what number I'm on... 3, 4, who knows. It does make me a little nervous that she is only a LSW and not a nurse. I'm just hoping to have minimal contact at this point, get my crap done, and of course pay them lots of money.
  20. THANK YOU! I sat in that meeting feeling so shamed. I knew that policy couldn't possible be right... 'tell everyone because she can't be trusted'. Ugh! My advocate is a nice lady but she is NOT in recovery nor has she been through TPAPN.
  21. So, I recently got a job in dialysis. I had the work agreement meeting with them and my TPAPN advocate where we signed all the necessary paperwork and such. (My case manager couldn't do it for some reason.). Anyways, my advocate made it sound as if ANYONE who works with me should know about my participation in TPAPN... that why they could notify management if 'I seem off'. She told this to my new employer. This doesn't seem right to me. I completely understand letting the other RN know who would be working with me. But telling everyone seems drastic and uncalled for. I've reached out to my case manager, but I have not heard back yet. So, how was this handled at your job? I need advice asap as my manager has already told a fellow employee that I don't believe needed to know. (Non clinical staff member) Thank you
  22. That is my question. Background... I have made it through 3 rounds of interviews for a dialysis position. I revealed my TPAPN status during the second (regional) interview. At the 3rd interview, with the hiring manager and coordinator, TPAPN was never brought up. I hadn't planned on bringing it up since I already told the other people and my 'information' was forwarded to the hiring clinic. But these ladies were talking and describing the job as if I had no restrictions. (Made me feel like they didn't know.) Now, I feel as if I need to call them on Monday and make sure the monitoring information made it down the pipeline. It's my responsibility to make sure they know, right? Do I call or leave it alone?
