What was your hardest prerequisite course?
Agreed. I loathe Chemistry. 5 weeks left and I'm wishing them away EVERYDAY. Haha.

Chamberlain Hesi
Reading Comprehension, Vocab, math and something else are the only 4 that are used for entrance. Just study typical HESI layouts and questions and you should be fine. Know household conversions, correct usage of words (there, their, they're) and fractions.

Chamberlain college of nursing
I'm not sure who you spoke with. Pre-reqs are actually required. It is much cheaper to do your pre-reqs elsewhere and transfer them over. My Jacksonville campus is accredited and REGIONALLY accredited through CCNE and another accrediting institution. But it does vary based upon campus and location. I would also check with some local employers to make sure they accept graduates from that school. Chamberlain is not "easier", I don't recommend it if you are not ready to work. Your typical 12 and 16 week classes are condensend into 8 week sessions, that's why it is a fast-paced program. Do your research. Do pre-reqs at a local college to save yourself some money, and then look back into it.

Discouraged at Chamberlain
We were advised yesterday that they are changing the rules at Chamberlain, If you fail 2 classes regardless of the type - general, skills, nursing core, you're out. But she told us it hadn't started yet. I would definitely look to get more clarification. But also, I would look at your own study habits and see what you can do to not be struggling. I am not calling you out in an offensive way, but if you're barely hanging on to the 76 -- maybe there's something going on in your routine you can change, to better benefit yourself? Do you give yourself breaks during studying -- so that you can absorb the information? Have you met with a tutor to maybe help you work on your study habits? As previous posters have said, all nursing schools (even the for profit ones -- gaspppp) have standards higher than those for regular courses. When a typical "C" is actually a failing grade, it makes it much more difficult. Best of luck to you!

I also recommend, if possible, to go to a local community or state college for your pre-reqs, you will save a lot of money. I transferred about 36 credit hours over and it really makes a difference in the amount of loans and/or financial aid/grants. The school does not loan you the money - the money comes from the government, if you get a student loan, so the government decides the interest rate. However, my advisor also gave me information for local organizations that offered student loans and their typical interest rates. I can only speak to the Jacksonville campus - but, they gave us an order for drug testing and we went to a lab corp, quest, urgent care - anywhere that drew blood. Good luck to you!

Chamberlain college
Your state BON website will tell you specifically if the program is Accredited. I would start there. Then I recommend contacting an advisor in the location to meet with them and discuss the class schedule, because it varies depending on the class you're taking and location. Good luck!

Chamberlain College, Arlington VA campus
Loving the Potter glasses! I'm a huge Harry fan myself! Trying to finish up Cursed Child before classes start Monday. Read around through the Chamberlain group, you'll see pros and cons from every angle. Most people will discuss price with you. Also, stalk instagram. The #chamberlaincollegeofnursing will bring up all kinds of photos and information that I found additionally helpful when making my decision. Do your own research as well. Check accreditting. Contact local hospitals and make sure they accept graduates from Chamberlain. This is only my first semester, but I'm very excited. Best of luck!!

Chamberlain Interview?
Talk to your Advisor, only certain parts count -- they test on all subjects but only average 4 portions. It's the math, reading comprehension and 2 other things I can't remember but the science isn't figured into the equation.

Chamberlain Interview?
Business casual is fine. You'll just be meeting to discuss your goals, how things work, how you pass the HESI and what the next steps are. Which campus are you looking into? Pay close attention to your household metric conversions and fractions in the math section. Those household conversions threw me for a loop. Good Luck!

Chamberlain Nursing School... Is it worth it?
I disagree with you, Kephara. I personally know at least 10 nurses that have graduated from Chamberlain and have easily gained employment at some of the best hospitals in our area, including but not limited to THE Mayo Hospital and MD Anderson's, some even have higher ranking positions within the hospital system. Our health system here also has an agreement with Chamberlain College of Nursing to give their nurses or employees incentive to go there, reduced tuition, flexible work schedules, etc. My employer encourages their ADN nurses to go back to school for their BSN, MSN's, FNP's-DNP's... and this agreement with Chamberlain makes that easier. While I understand some for-profit schools can have bad raps, I also understand them and appreciate them. I work for a large hospital system and they gladly hire from Chamberlain and welcome them for their clinicals. I believe your cynisism towards someone that goes to this school for a degree is appalling, considering you are a nursing administrator. It's not as if everything is done online, they have clinicals, they have labs, they have hours and they have the NCLEX to pass. While I understand some of the Chamberlain campuses may have "bad raps" don't include all of them in there, unless you have encountered a nurse from each of the 22 Chamberlain Schools. Have a beautiful day.

Chamberlain College of Nursing (Jacksonville) Spring 2016
Thank you for responding! I go to my orientation tomorrow. I transferred 27 credits over, received financial aid and some scholarships from work. I also have a friend and we are starting together. I'm so excited and nervous all at the same time. I hope orientation answers all my questions, because I have a ton! Hope I get the chance to meet you on campus one day!

What are your thoughts about Chamberlain?
I start the Jacksonville Campus in September. I know multiple people that have gone there and had a great experience and are more than qualified to do their jobs. I also work for a large Hospital Corp here in Jacksonville, Fl and after checking with multiple Nurse Managers, ADON's and recruiting confirmed that they actually hire a larger percentage of BSN's from Chamberlain as any other school. Best of luck with your decision!

Chamberlain Nursing School... Is it worth it?
I work for a large Hospital Corporation here in Jacksonville, Fl. I have looked into Chamberlain extensively but was concerned, as most, with being able to get a job. I was happy to find out after speaking with the nurse recruiters and different ADON's that Chamberlain is wehre our corporation gets a lot of their nurses from. They have breaks in tuition for their employees and try their best to work with them through the program to continue with employment. This information, along with the stellar reviews I heard from coworkers that went to Chamberlain, I decided to move forward with the Jacksonville Campus! Best of luck to you all :)

Today's Test
What is a good pop up or a bad pop up? How do you know how many questions you're going to get? Obviously a newb here! Starting school in the FALL so I'm just trying to familiarize myself with as much as possible.

Chamberlain College- Sacramento
I didn't study the HESI and still got an 80. If I were to do it over, I would study MATH, especially the household conversions (pint to liters, ounces to cups) things like that. Also, you only have to have a 75 average on Vocabulary, grammar, math and reading comprehension. All the other parts of the test are to gage where you are, but are not taken into account for your 75 average for acceptance into the school/program. I don't think it's necessary to buy a book when you can get free help online. Good LUck!

NCLEX tomorrow 6/13
Cany anyone explain to a newb the ATT? Good pop up? Bad pop up? How it shuts off after a certain amount of questions? I'm starting the BSN program this fall here in Jacksonville, Fl!

Chamberlain Students
Thank you - SopranoKris, RN. It's been a tough decision, but I do think I'm going to apply. I spoke with a couple hiring managers and HR people here at my hospital I work at and they say they hire a lot of Chamberlain nurses and even have a Cohort with them. They did recommend I try to do an ADN program and then do my RN-to-BSN at Chamberlain to save money. However, it's going to take me another year (2 pre-reqs, one is pre-req of the other CHEM and MCB) to even be able to apply for the local Nursing Program, and then -- there's no guarantee I would get in. Do you know if you have to pay for everything at once or is it just the beginning of the each semester?

Chamberlain Students
Thanks for your reply, SopranoKris, RN -- I am looking for the 3 year BSN information though! Happily, I haven't heard one negative thing about the RN-to-BSN program, and Chamberlain is actually one of the Cohorts my employer works with to get the nurses from ADN to BSN -- so I feel secure in using the school, since my employer endorses them, it's just that "biting the bullet" thing. Thank you!

Hi! Can you give me your opinion on your experience at Chamberlain?? I'm thinking really hard about the program, but unsure because of costs. I've heard pros and cons, so I'm really on the fence. I would appreciate being able to hear from people that actually attend/attended the school and not just the admission counselors. Thanks!
