  1. For me I was scared my first three months as nurse , than by six months I'm getting my routine down for nursing. Suddenly I'm doing a routine assessment of a patient and I noticed her pulse kept skipping. I called the doctor in to measure her pulse just to make sure. I was right we sent to get pacemaker asap. She was never diagnosed with and cardiac abnormalities but I found it first. I help save her life. I love saving lives if I can. I make sure my patients are comfortable as possible. True during nursing school I didn't have much of social life outside my family and my fellow nursing peers, but perseverance will get you through. Don't let doubt a have free rent in your mind
  2. That's a very smart plan Mscoleman78
  3. I love LTC at least you know what your going into. Assisted living they lie. If they are private pay they welcomed in . Many are not fit to be in Assisted living but money talks. Mscoleman78 I too am from the Chicagoland area. I have two job LTC and Assisted living. I'm literally asking my boss to have on the schedule every other weekend because I'm tired of lies in Assisted living
  4. I'm trying to get all my paper work in order so I can start in the fall
  5. It took less than a month to post online. I took my Nclex on January 21 on February 3 my name was posted with my license number. Illinois is not hand out paper licenses anyone
  6. True but they cashed my $50 check . Than they sent the email telling they did away with paper license.
  7. Get hell out of here if you won't take da** thing off your head. I'm a Muslim who wears a hijab. Also I had resident not want as their Nurse because I 'm Black and I have Caribbean accent. They have said to my face and requested a Europe American Nurse. I'm thinking on less resident. I understand their generation there was segregation. I understand some people will never change no matter how close to death door they are. Honestly they make a better person. I choose to be the better person and judge people as individuals not as a group.
  8. You should continue working while in school even if you go prn status. I work as pct and those skilled help me a lot when I started working as a Nurse. It's easy to get a job within your corporation whether you stay at this hospital or another hospital within the corporation. You be an internal candidate. A new nurse with no experience in Illinois good luck finding a job. For me I graduate in December and I got my temporary license and I felt like ha ha I can go work for any company I want now. I got interviews and they all said the same thing come back when you have license number. I got humble really quick and told my employer I got my temporary license. They had me working (training) as a Nurse. I thank them they will always be my first Nursing job. Once you have a month of experience it opens doors for you to go anywhere. I got a second job already. It's with paying back my student loans.
