NJ to PA lpn by endorsement hour requirement not met
Hello, Im an LPN and went to school in New Jersey. I applied for an LPN by endorsement to PA and got a temp permit to work. My transcripts aren't in hours they are listed as "220 days." PA said in order for endorsement I need to have completed at least 1500 hours. I spoke to the director of the program I attended and she said we completed 1320 hours. I have an interview at a large city hospital this week and found out the hour issue today. My question is - Does any one know how I can complete the remainder of the hours? Does it need to be in a classroom/learning setting or can paid work count? I am sure that onceI receive a letter from the PA board of nursing that my questions will be answered but I'm so anxious. I have been looking for work for 4 months and my last ditch effort was an our of state endorsement.... and a HUGE city hospital wants to interview me for a full time dream position :( I am going to call the manager and tell them my situation tomorrow.... I am legally able to work as an LPN in PA under my temp licensed for a year. Hopefully worked hours count? Not sure how I'm going to gather up 180 hours in a non paid classroom/clinical

Dear Nursing Student with ADD what study strategies help w/memory ?
I graduated in July from a PN program. I have ADHD and choose not to take medication for it because it turns me into a zombie and I am a lot better off without it. I am a visual learner. However, out side of labs and clinical everything was on paper. Reading my lectures or chapters just didn't cut it for me. So I would re- write important areas from my lectures and text book using different colored inks. Flashcards did the trick too. Memorize Memorize Memorize and if you need more time practicing skills as your instructors to allow you more time in the lab to practice or do it at home even if you don't have the supplies.

2017 HEDIS anyone?
Hello everyone, Altegra which used to be Outcomes INC. Just offered me a remote review position at 4.00-8.00 per chart. This seems super low compared to other hourly wages others have reported. Does anyone have experience with this company? Were there a lot of charts in the remote data base? I'd have to do 60-80 a day to make it worth it. I used to work for Medassurant which is now Inovalon before I became a nurse and they told me to call them at the end of January for opportunities. Does any one know if they offer remote positions rather then telecommute? Another thing I don't care is the fact that I have to use my own equipment with Altegra. I'm a mac user so I would have to purchase a windows operating system.

- HELP! Threats to call BON!
Record him while he is making threats.. Make sure to respond in a way that he explains why he would do such a thing like : " I never got to work or clinicals impaired why would you make up such a thing?" If you have personal malpractice insurance call their attorney for advice. Makes me sick that people can hang" call the BON " over our heads. In my state a report is usually only taken seriously and investigated from a co worker or patient. You said he works at your facility so.. I'd cover your butt sorty you're going through this- Did you choose nursing because it was your "calling"?
I've always worked in a healthcare setting whether it be the administrative / records side or bed side ( cna .) I'm currently looking for my first nursing position as a new grad. Truthfully patient care and caring for others in any capacity has been the only thing I have excelled at. I believe it is a calling for me at least... Even though at times it can be overwhelming and a lot of the times it's easy to care more for others and forget to care for yourself.. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm confident I made the right decision... I have ALOT of learning to do.... but being a care giver whether it's an aide, nurse, provider etc. is a privilege.- Current lpn pay ???
Where in NJ? I'm in South and haven't seen those rates!- I am not proud of my track record.
Falsifying records is illegal. You do realize you are a nurse - a health care professional- Meaning the outcome of your patients experience depends on information you submit- Which could ultimately mean LIFE OR DEATH. There is NO excuse for that. NONE.- What will it take to get a job as a new LPN?
Moving isn't an option. Southern NJ has a plethora of LTC and skilled nursing facilities. Apparently I'm just not marketable.- Gloves and PPE in hallway
In NJ this has always been the general rule. No gloves in the hallway. But also- any patient on isolation never walked the floors. PT, OT, or while I was an aide always had them ambulate in their rooms and do basic ROM. I suppose as long as it's not airborne or droplet the new gown and hand hygiene is ok but it's still gross. And I agree patients bleed, poop, and pee the times you need them NOT to. Like being on the floor where PPE is forbidden. I say just be cautious not to touch skin to skin and only skin to clean gown and stuff your pockets with gloves for the "just incase" even though you're not supposed to people will be seen with gloves on in the hall.- What will it take to get a job as a new LPN?
Talk about a shock:woot: I went into my PN program thinking that because I had X amount of years as an aid it would be an easy transition into nursing. - Ooooh you naive naive little girl you- Here it is 4 months post graduation and I cannot get an LPN position. I've only been on 3 interviews one resulting in a possible hire after the holidays( per diem Max of a whopping 10 day orientation) the other they are still "narrowing it down" - state job and the other I didn't hear back from. I have easily sent over 500 applications just since I've had my license since the beginning of October. I've applied to every where and every where in a 40 mile radius that I finally buckled and applied for a PA endorsement license.( I live in NJ) I've called HR and just about every facility, reached out to staffing, sent emails, and more recently reached out DIRECTLY to DON's and let me tell you none of them were thrilled about it. What do want or need from me? Clearly I'm EAGER. I'm calling you directly humiliating myself basically praying you take it as initiative and not stalker-ish. I want to LEARN and make some money so I can continue with school. My soul? My first born? I am for the first time since graduating completely and totally mentally EXHAUSTED. And VERY discouraged to the point of depression. I'm sure no one has the golden ticket answer for me but I just really needed to vent. I tell my fiancé or friends or family and all they say is "be patient." I've been patient. I want to work! And I'm scared to death the new graduate won't apply to me for too much longer. I feel like I'm no better then my previous position as an aide because as each day goes by I'm losing any and all skills or knowledge I had before. I literally had to google the difference between a CT and MRI today All I want for Christmas is a job. As a matter of fact I'll work a double. Please nursing gods just give me a job!!!- Our Lady of Lourdes RN program
Apply any way.- I am not proud of my track record.
Look into managed care and chart auditing. Bedside isn't for every one- Remote hedis does this sound like a scam?
Thank you :)- Remote hedis does this sound like a scam?
Hey all so ive been applying for remote hedis positions left and right. Tis' the season. I got two calls both from staffing companies. Zolon and maxim health. Both were foreigners and asked for my date of birth and last 5 of my social security number. Ive only worked directly with companies doing projects/contracts I've never gone through a staffing company for placement. Is this normal? thanks!- Going back to school at 30
I have a similar background and last year I began an LPN program. I'm 30 too and I am actually happy I waited later in life to attempt nursing school. I really don't believe I would have been able to complete such a rigorous program at a younger age. I'm much more disciplined and devoted now then I was in my early 20's. There were a lot of people in there late 50's in my class. It's never too late. Age has nothing to do with success. It's all about time management. Go for it if its really what you want. YOU ARE STILL YOUNG!- Anyone have experience in Public Sector Employment/Timeframe
Hello Everyone! So I went on an interview at a county facility in NJ. The interview went well and while I didn't get " you are hired " there were other good signs that they were interested in bringing me on board. Upon leaving the interview one of the interviewers told me that I should hear something within two weeks but If I shouldn't then I should call for an " update on my application." I'm a new graduate from a PN program and the DON said over and over again that she wants to give new graduates a chance and went over all the detail about the orientation process, and emphasized that their CNA's were "tough" and that It would be best not to make friends with them as it would cause problems and delagating tasks would be like pulling teeth . A few other classamates I graduated with also interviewed there and had the same experience some go as far to say they got a verbal offer. Does anyone have experience with public sector hiring processes? Obviously I haven't stopped applying for positions as I don't want to put all of my eggs in one basket. But this facility offers 30-60 days of orientation where as I am finding the most private sector companies offer is 5 days!!!!- Help with Nclex
