For those going from U.S.A to Canada, how did you go about getting a police report for College of Nursing Ontario application or any other province college of nursing?
  2. Western Governors University (WGU) is not a diploma mill, it is a reputable brick and mortal school and has been around for decades. I don't have any degree from there but it was one of those schools I researched while I was looking for schools. California BRN is very anal and most of the people in their office don't know jack about nursing education. She should file complaint with department of education
  3. Your degree from Nigeria would transfer. I am registered nurse here in the U.S, I completed a 5 year BSN program in Nigeria from a reputable university and I can tell you our education in Nigeria is far above the BSN curriculum in America. I did my MSN here in the US and when I saw the US BSN curriculum I was amazed as to how less clinical hours and classes they took compared to what I studied in Nigeria. In Nigeria we took the same class with medical students till the 3rd year at the university, took anatomy, physiology, Microbiology, pathology, histology, embryology, epidemiology etc, the same content as medical students. But here in the US the anatomy and physiology classes for BSN degree is like just an overview of the broad anatomy and physiology classes. Both CGFNS and ECE evaluation of my transcripts meet the US requirement and I did not have to take any extra class. I am sure your non-nursing classes would transfer and you would be able to register for accelerated BSN, don't go through the ADN route
  4. Hello, I am a registered nurse in the U.S and planning to move to Canada. I took NCLEX about 5 yrs ago. Will College of nursing Ontario require me to sit for RN Jurisprudence Examination? or would the NCLEX exam be enough to get me licensed? Thanks
  5. I live in NY and my take home is not even among the highest for nurses in this area. New grad RN working night shift in Northwell hospital or NYP earns close to 110k per year before tax. I am a RN care manager and I work with some new grad RNs whose salary is just 5k less than mine in the same position. You earn high in NY but you also spend alot on cost of living
  6. Please what questions did you use to study for the CBT? I learn better with questions and I think the Masden book may not be the best learning resource as the book seems too wordy. Thank
  7. that was just a drop in the bucket when compared to how white people discriminates against Africans or African American even when there is no pandemic. I bet the white missionary had a glimpse into that harsh reality.
  8. Thank you, I will do just that next week.
  9. Does anyone have an idea how long it takes board of nursing to respond to NMC for license verification? I am in NY so the qualification regulator I wrote on the online application is NY BON.
  10. How do you survive on 1800 per month? My take home RN biweekly check in the U.S is 2800, so in a month I earn 5600 after tax. How much would you pay for rent, gas, food, restaurant at least 2-4 times per month, minimal shopping etc.... plus have some money left for saving on 1800 per month?
  11. Is this biweekly or monthly pay? Thanks
  12. app22 please can you share with me the process of application. I checked on NMC website and it says nurses educated outside EU most take ielts. How did you get the requirement waived. Thanks app22 please can you share with me the process of application. I checked on NMC website and it says nurses educated outside EU most take ielts. How did you get the requirement waived. Thanks
  13. Did you have to take ielts exam?
  14. Hello, Please, I need information about Stonybrook ED I have an offer to start next year, does anyone work at Stonybrook hospital on long island? How is the work environment? What is rn-patient ratio in the er? do they have enough staff at their ED? Thanks
  15. Hello Shelldepeas, did you eventually took the home care job with northwell? I really need your insight, am currently thinking of working for them too. Please tell me about your experience. Thanks.
  16. I didn't like it at first but now am halfway through and I think I am learning a lot and I think it's a good program, make sure you line up your preceptors. Just like most distance learning you need to find your own preceptor. Also another good thing about the program is the life model for their history and physical assessment during the immersion week, you get to practice on the life model and it's kinda give you a feel of reality and your role as an NP.
  17. Am sure the professor is not a clinician and hasn't been to any healthcare institution lately. Most clinics and hospitals prefer to hire NPs over PA, from research there was more patient satisfaction with NP than PAs, physicians trust NPs more than PAs in patient management. Infact more than ever before there are more opportunities for NPs and the future seems more promising.
  18. I also got admitted to spring arbor fnp, currently in the ethics class and I hate it, the instructor is too full of herself, not helpful nor understanding, thinking of dropping the class and looking for a better school
  19. Am starting class this month with spring arbor
  20. Hello Nurses, I got acceptable for the FNP program at both Walden and Spring Arbor, I will like to know your opinions about these schools. Kindly comment on any of the program if you are or know anyone in any of the programs Really need help to decide on which one to choose. Thanks.
  21. I think you should just apply for new grad position, apply to nursing home for a new grad nurse position to get some experience before applying to hospitals. I don't think you need a refresher course after you already passed the nclex. You can volunteer and shadow some nurses too
  22. Work in Doctor's office or hospital
  23. Instead of CNA I think you should consider Medical Assistant, better for your age
  24. Just be yourself and be calm you will get along
  25. Why do you think you are too stupid? If you are really too stupid you wouldn't have been able to write or compose what you have above.
