Class seat
Best of luck to you! I graduated in August and it was such an awesome feeling. The hardest year of my life no doubt, but the end result was worth it. Try not to get too discouraged, because it will be difficult. Keep positive thoughts and you will succeed!

Tell me about your first job!
Thank you SO much for the wonderful advice. I too am a new grad, and I haven't had a job as a nurse yet. A lot of it has been due to fear. You gave me some good insight as well, thank you!

How much study needed for LPN?
I have to throw my two cents in. In my program, we would have two lessons a day, and test on both the following day. This was not an every day occurrence due to clinicals but I required about 6 hours a day. And my best advice I can give is to make flash cards! It can be time consuming but it was my saving grace in school. I would make them and quizz myself every chance I had.....cooking dinner, waiting in line at the store, whatever. We had to maintain an 80 average or we were kicked out and I couldn't let that happen no matter what. I didn't have a life for a year, but it was so worth it. Best of luck to you!

After taking boards...
There are NO LPN jobs here in WV. I graduated in August, and there are 4 of us who have not found jobs. Needless to say, I'm moving to Nashville, TN in a few weeks. I hope I have much better luck there. If I was an RN, I would have no problem here, but there is not a need for LPN's.

1st job as LVN
Hats off to you:yelclap: My instructors also wanted us to start on med surg. I'm so nervous about actually being a nurse now, I'm putting off finding a job. Sad huh? I just can't get over the fear. I wish you well, I hope you love it!

Starting school in Nov. Scared to death
I know exactly how you feel. Take a deep breath, it's going to be okay. I think a major positive is that you have wanted it for so long. So, you must know a bit about nursing and what is expected. There are going to be things about it you hate, but I'm certain the good will out do the bad. I'm a new graduate, and I would give myself affirmations out loud on a daily basis such as "I can get through this", "everything is going to be fine", etc. Seems silly, but trying to stay positive worked for me. The end result is worth it. If I can be of help in any way, just ask. You'll do just fine!!! :)

Prison Job
I may have an interview next working at our local prison. This would be my first job as an LPN, and I don't know anything about it. Would it be a good first job? If anyone is working or has worked at such a place, I would appreciate any info!

Happy Dance Happy Dance, I passed
Soooooo happy for you! Now, go out and celebrate!

anyone have trouble finding a job?
I'm not personally having trouble, only because I am not searching right now. I graduated in August, and I'm in the process of relocating. However, there are about 5 girls in my class who absolutely can not find jobs. It's terrible and sad. This is just a bad state period when it comes to jobs. I hope when I move out of state it will be a different story. Sorry you are having trouble, I hope things change for the better.

just took nclex-lpn
lpnwannabe- I was EXACTLY like you yesteray. All my fellow classmates who took stopped at 85, and all had passed. And I looked up a few questions I was unsure about, and I got them wrong! And I didn't have any math, about 3 meds, and TONS of prioritizing patient care. What a stressful time. And I honestly have no idea where I want to work. Not too many opportunities here where I live. :uhoh21: Congratulations, I wish you the best in your nursing career.

Board Results

What a relief!
Thank you so much! Nurseinthemaking........I was able to get the results by going to the wv lpn board site. It prompts you to check on the status of a license, and if you pass it will say active. I'm not sure if your state will have the same option, but it's worth a try! Best of luck to you, you will pass! :)
