  1. The exam is very basic common knowledge! You get two attempts if you don't score above a 75% in each category. I used hesi elsevier (purple book, 3rd edition) to study. Make sure you review your muscles and bones for the anatomy section of the exam!
  2. Hi everyone. I'm a first semester nursing student after having most of my pre reqs completed at a community college. I will be graduating in 2 years and I would just like to know, at what point during nursing school did you start studying for the NCLEX? Also, were there any NCLEX review books that actually helped you study/pass nursing exams?
  3. Course numbers and sections can vary from school to school but the overall class itself and the content associated with it is the same. You may want to clarify what BIO 235 is. :)
  4. I really don't think it's necessary.. I don't feel like I would "benefit" from sharing that to the public so I would just tell my family and friends in person.
  5. Husband: You don't look that great, are you alright? Wife: Yeah, I just can't decide if I need a hug, XL coffee, a few months of sleep, or a half a dozen drinks.
  6. Husband: I'm going out to buy some earmuffs for this cold weather, do you want a pair? Wife: Yeah, I'll have some. Not being my ears are cold though..I'm just tired of hearing people whining
  7. Hi everyone, I'm almost halfway done with my unknown project and for my next test I have to do Methyl Red. However, the last time I did this test I completely messed up. Am I supposed to add the Methyl red dye to my culture and not the control??
  8. For me, TEAS was much more difficult. I only studied for a week on the HESI and I scored a 88%. For the TEAS I studied for about 2-3 months and ranged in the mid 70s.
  9. "I'm not usually like this, it's just the stuffing!"
  10. Nurse: "After you're out of that costume, don't forget to set your bathroom scale back 10 lbs tonight."
  11. I'll be entering nursing school in January and I couldn't be more excited, yet nervous. For my pre-requisite courses, most of them were pure memorization and I am aware nursing school is focused on applying the information you learned rather than just memorizing it. My question is, what study methods worked the best with you? I understand that nursing school can get overwhelming and I just want to explore the different options of being able to understand the material and applying it.
  12. Yes, I ended up dropping it. I emailed my advisor about whether or not the W would affect me getting into the school, but since she sent my completed application along with my HESI scores to the admissions committee before I dropped the class, it won't be showing up. I'll have to take Chem at Chamberlain but I don't mind that.
  13. Good luck!! After I took the exam I got notified of my acceptance a week later! The exam is not bad at all :)
  14. "Try not to think too much about us 3 because after your trip to the OR, you'll be with ONE of us!"
  15. A&P is a difficult class. The first lecture exam I took I got a C in. From then on, I changed my study habits. I read my lecture notes every day for 2-3 hours and I would start studying for exams a week in advance. Quizlet really helped with memorizing terms and study groups helped out a ton. But instead of just memorizing terms, I applied them to real world situations. This made it really easy for me to grasp the overall concepts.
  16. When you study for A&P, try to apply it to real world situations instead of just purely memorizing terms. That's what I ended up doing because I just felt like memorizing words was very overwhelming. Study groups really helped for me because its a way to see what kind of studying helps other students that could help you too. Good luck!
  17. When I asked my adviser about the admission process she says they accept 150 students per term. I wouldn't feel too discouraged about your GPA, just be sure to score at least an 80 on the HESI to be competitive.
  18. Everyone has their own opinions. I created this post to find other people that will be attending the same campus as me. Money is not an issue for me so it doesn't make sense for me to go to community college for 3-4 years just to get my associates when I can finish in 2 years and earn my Bachelors.
  19. All of the questions on the math section was straightforward, for me at least. I dont believe I had any word problems. Ratios were very simple, similar to the Hesi A2 Elsevier book. If you can do problems from this book, you should be good to go.
  20. I took my HESI last week and did not study for the math and scored a 88%. Know your conversions by heart, there's a good amount of them. Also, I believe 1/3 of the exam consisted of ratios/proportions so make sure you are comfortable doing those! More than half of the exam consisted of adding/subtracting fractions. Good luck on your HESI, it wasn't too bad at all! :)
  21. Hi everyone! Just wanted to know if anyone is interested in applying to or has been accepted into Chamberlain's Addison campus for the Spring semester! I applied and I'm waiting to hear back on my decision!
  22. Hi everyone, I applied to Chamberlain and I should find out if I got in by next week. I'm currently taking chemistry, however, I'm thinking of dropping it. Dropping the class would mean Chemistry would come up as a "W" on my Fall transcripts. I wanted to know if this would affect my admission process in terms of getting accepted or denied? My GPA won't be affected. I scored a 92% in Chemistry on the HESI and I am aware I will have to take this class at Chamberlain.
  23. I'm taking the HESI next week and reading your post really helps to focus down on the studying. Did you have to take the chemistry part? And if you did, how was that?
  24. I am applying to the Addison, IL campus! I'm nervous about the HESI, especially for the science part of it. Thanks for your input!
