Iam New to the nursing school scene!
I work 40+ hours a week. I take one science course a semester along with another pre-requisite that isn't science like; English, Ethics or Psychology. So, two classes a semester works best for me. Also, recognize that the sciences classes are like taking two courses because you will have a lecture and a lab. It truly depends on what all you have going on. If your not working full time you can do more. Just make sure not to overload yourself. Good luck!:)

A&P 1 not going so well...
I was you last semester! My first exam I got a 68% and I was so discouraged, and like you I knew I had to get an A in the course. I work 40+ hours a week, and was actually considering changing my career path because I didn't think I could pass this course. I'm also a poor tester, my nerves can get the best of me. I ended up getting up earlier during the week to get so me extra studying time in. For lecture I made note cards and memorized them front and back, those cards went everywhere with me. For lab I actually copied pictures out of the book and would black out the names and constantly quiz myself. For me repetition is how I get things to stick. All my free time went to studying and I ended up with an A. You can do it, it's all about finding what works best for you. It's so hard with so much going on in life but it's not impossible.

Input on summer courses
I have completed all my pre-requisites except for Microbiology and Chemistry. I planned to take them both this summer but was told by everyone that was impossible especially while working full time. So, I plan to take one this summer and one in the fall. Any suggestions on which course is more doable in the condensed summer semester? Or should I not take either during the summer and just take them during the regular semester?

Suggestions/advice on succeeding in A&P class
Thank you soooo much for your advice! I tried this and is helping me a lot! Due to by location and work hours, study groups aren't an option for me. But I did as you suggested, and that has made it easier to study and learn everything. I photocopy the images with all the information on that back and I am able to take them everywhere so I am constantly pulling them out and studying. THANK YOU!!!!

Suggestions/advice on succeeding in A&P class
For the quizzes we are given a paper that is just numbered and attached to that are photocopied images. On images that a particular area is to be identified there will be a an arrow pointing to it. I had my first exam yesterday and there were stations set up. We were given a clip board and a sheet of paper that was numbered and we went station to station. There were specimens, bones and pictures set up at each station. He divided the class up to come in at different times, so it was a small group of us, and we weren't timed (thank goodness). This is truly the hardest class that I have ever taken!

Suggestions/advice on succeeding in A&P class
I just completed my first exam in A&P (lecture) and I did horrible. That is because our lab consists of tons of terms and knowledge of function and structure, which we have a quiz on every week. There is no multiple choice or word bank, so spelling must be correct as well. So, I invest the majority of my time in studying the 150-200 terms every week. The issue is that I am lacking in study time for the lecture portion of the class. Our only grades in the lecture portion of class are the three exams and one finale, so it's crucial that I do well on those. I do work 40-50 hours a week but spend every weekend and evenings (when I don't have class) studying. Now I am in a struggle trying to manage my time to be successful in both lab and lecture. I am so discouraged because I am feeling that my best just isn't good enough. I don't think I have every felt so disappointed. Anyone have any suggestions or experiencing the same issue?
