What are your favorite meals/snacks for work?
I bring nonfat yogurt, fruits, protein bar, granola bar, avocado cut in half and put in ziplock bag. I scoop out avocado with a spoon and just it it like that. Some veggies like baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, nuts, mozarella stick cheese, and a scoop of protein that i later mix at work. Thats pretty much everything i bring with me everyday. I snack a lot.

New grad on step down icu unit
I dont know how your step down is, but the one I was in most of the time did not have patients hooked to monitors. That mean you will have to know and see if/when your patient begins to deteriorate. Since you wont have a hundred bells calling you to alarm you when that happens, you will need to have great assessing skills. One advice is to not take a step down lightly. A lot of times, the patients there are still very sick, just means that someone was a little sicker that needed the bed in the icu. Best of luck! Sent from my iPhone using allnurses

New Grad 5 days orientation
I spoke to HR today, and they said that its not really a 5 day orientation, more like 2-3... I was very flabbergasted. However, the lady said that the nurses there are extremely helpful and that I could always ask for help. I decided to accept the offer since I dont exactly have jobs lining up for me. Also, my starting salary will be slightly more than what new grads are offered around here. I will update after I go through the orientation. Thanks to everyone who commented. I love this community and all of the fellow nurses!

New Grad 5 days orientation
Thank you very much for your response. You are right, I would never want to put anyones life in danger as well as my license. Since I haven't had my orientation yet, I can say how I feel about this position, however I will definitely listen to my gut once its over. Sent from my iPhone using allnurses

New Grad 5 days orientation
Thank you very much for your response! I have been reviewing my Medsurg notes, in hopes that it will give me more confidence for when I start. But I know that each facility has their own most commonly used meds and lab values. I also view youtube videos to refresh skills and just to feel in a zone. Sent from my iPhone using allnurses
