It Ain't Like The Movies!
It's probably the same consultant who makes the rules and regulations for Medicare/private insurance reimbursements. SMH.

The rudest thing that's ever been said to you by a patient or family
Meh, I guess I have the face of nurse ratchet because even though I'm a medium brown girl working in a predominantly caucasian area I've yet to have a patient be verbally disrespectful or abusive towards me in any manner either regarding their care or my race. I know I've been very lucky so far.

Husbands!
I do the exact same thing! Hahaha! If he's in pain (excruciating pain) and if I'm in the mood to be his "nurse" I give him the strongest pain med (sugar pill) and he instantly feels better.

Dating Coworkers
Unfortunately trying not get caught showing affection is what makes the whole situation exciting at work and outside work the excitement fizzles out. Good luck if you decide to ask the girl out.

How would you react?
And CC management just like she did.

Discouraged
RN prerequisites and school is tough, but if you're passionate about nursing let that be what fuels you to become a nurse. Most nothing is impossible in this world. Just read here in AN all the trials and tribulations many of us went through and made it. Whatever you decide, Buena suerte.

Has nursing made you negative?
Word of the day for me. Never heard it before. SMH caray.

What Can't You Live Without?
Red Bull and The XX's Intro. It helped through those long study sessions.

That one co-worker
Ignore that nurse. She's a rat. As long as you do your job well she's worthless to you. Don't stress about her.

Clipping nails at nurse's station
Wha?!!!! No man I would've called them out right there and then. I would've asked what the hell were they thinking doing that in the break room sink.

Not what I expected
"Buttercup" poof...... I hate that term. Just saying........

Do you go to work with parabens on you?
What the freak? Parabens? I'm too lazy to google the word. I just wasted my time reading this insignificant thread. Meh. I'm out.

My feet are KILLING me!!!
Chuck Taylors work for me. I have bought expensive Nike shoes that tore my feet up but with Converse shoes my feet don't hurt at all during my shift. I recently did a shift with Toms shoes and felt like a ballerina walking with them all day and my feet were happy. Both are very cheap.

What to do about coworker not pulling her weight
I would have ripped into her a long time ago for being lazy. Sorry not the best advice but people like her make me angry. I have no mercy with lazy.

How do you make money not working duruing school?
When you don't have a choice at all you do what is needed to accomplish your needs and goals. I worked full time, 2 kids, a husband, house work, I have long list I could tell you about but I did it just like many others have. And I'm pretty proud of myself for having the strength and durance to deal. Good luck.

Refusing to give nursing pin to student!
The fuss seems to me is really over the money she spent purchasing it. Being forced to hand over $100 to someone you don't even know. That stinks.
-
Refusing to give nursing pin to student!
She should get the pin because she PAID for it. Plain and simple. Don't compare a pin to a diploma, really? Any how if she did receive the pin it would probably have no significance to her anyway but she has the right to do whatever she well damn pleases with it.
-
Refusing to give nursing pin to student!
Was the pin purchase mandatory part of the program? If so I agree with the previous posters but if not then the paying customer has the right to keep their purchased merchandise. I would have raised hell if it wasn't mandatory and they did that to me. I would have demanded they either give me my purchased item or had them throw it away bc they would be no freaking way I would donate it. At least not in that circumstance.

Social issues regarding RN to BSN?
I hate school but you gotta do what needs to be done.

How do you deal with untherapeutic situations on the unit?

Patient bedside phone help
I believe OP is answering correctly. She has followed patient privacy. You have just confirmed to me that a male patient is in that room.

Disciplining employee in front of other employees?!
This happened to me previously. I was in the nurses station and at about four words in I held my hand up and told my manager to STOP. I told her that we needed to go somewhere private and we did. After she disciplined me I told her how very unprofessional she was trying to call me out in front of my coworkers. She didn't care much about me after that but she never did again. I'd have a talk with the boss about it.
-
How do people feel about male nurses?
Meh, bad joke.

Why are students stealing my food?!
Poor kids, you probably work with public schools just let them have your food. Don't be stingy with the children. After work go get yourself a nice chicken salad or something like that. I hate to hear people fighting over food especially in this country. SMH
