I agree with most of the post by nurse cookie . I brought a blue new suit from banana Republic on sale because it was better quality and fit than the cheaper suits. Didn't spend 900 spent about 200 for a 500 suit. My total outfit with shoes, t-shirt, tie was like 400. I also got it tailored then got some cool socks that matched the suit all for the 400. I saw other guys in suits way to big non tailored and all the same color of black. I stood out got compliments from two out of the three panels I interviewed with. Ended up getting into all three. Not saying the suit did it but everything helps. You will have the outfit after too you can use it for job interviews or going to nice events. The suit will not go bad it's not food and some looks are just plain time less. We are are welling to take gre for 200 before review books or apps. Willing to take the ccrn 220 or 325 before the add on's.Apply to multiple schools with multiple fees along with transcripts. We can spend that much on a suit. Ooo you can wear it to aana meeting if your school makes you go. Ok sorry for the long book, hope it helps others like others have helped me. Good luck

Just my opinion on the topic not research to back me up. The price of tuition is going up every semester and every year so it would be cheaper to do it all now in two ways. One the overall per credit price will be cheaper the sooner you start. Two the program I got into is 8 months longer now to do the dnp vs if you go back after doing the MSN that is 12 full time or 24 months part time and the cost of the going back is more credits that the all dnp to begin with, which will further raise the overall cost. Maybe the dnp will never come in handy for anything ever because of the fact that all MSN will be grandfathered in BUT. Here are a few ways it can, you will be able to teach and be able to help the profession in that way if you like. The program staff at my school all had to get a some kind of doctorate (look at the titles of the program directors). It may or may not help with getting a job but wouldn't it help if you want to advance up in the workplace, it helps in most professions. All the prior one are very subjective at best because there are teachers with out doctorates and program directors but at what percentage? What happens if years later in one's career you want to move to another state and they raise the minimal degree requirement to the doctorate level as I heard they did with the masters in some states. These are all the thought I had before applying and I decided to go to a dnp program because it may just help me in the future if not I set a example for my younger extended family members as my older cousins set for me. They all ended up getting their masters in different fields but they all said it help them in the long run. There are more great reason to pick a dnp now over later and there are reasons to do the MSN now and just be grandfathered in. It's a personal choice best of luck deciding end of rant

Wish I had saved more money. Wish I did more travel nursing to save more money and see more places. To see how medicine is practiced differently around the area or even the country . It makes you a stronger nurse because they will give you a variety of different patients (got those from travel nurse friends). The GPA and gre are just a part of the puzzle. Either way you will not know what it takes to get in if you don't try. A lot of people let fear of not getting in stop them from applying. To the point where they never apply. Chances of getting in at least one or more (fear talking) percent if you try but if you don't apply it's always a zero.

Thanks I saw a lot of the safety and shooting glasses just wanted to know if it was enough protection but from the sounds of it bigpappacrna it sounds like the shooting glasses will work. Thanks for taking the time to reply

Hello everyone. I am starting clinicals in August and I am looking for protective eye wear to wear in the OR. I have been finding mostly safety glasses that are frog resistant and bulky safety googles. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I just want to keep the blood and other body fluids out.

Good idea but even with the loan from your 401 you are losing money because all your money isn't out in the market and the interest you pay yourself isn't enough to make up for the money that you are losing. I think there is also a penalty and taxes. Look into it and let us know if I am wrong.

Never give up or surrender. When you fail it makes you appreciate the coming and past success. You can do this. Study Harder and it will make you a better nurse

I would like to hear also. I have a friend that told me to never touch my 401 k. I guess it would be all about the numbers.
