Not exactly sure if I'm posting under the right thread but here goes... I'm starting the program this coming spring (Jan 2017), my question is for anyone in the doctorate track. In the first 2 semesters, where the work load is all online (DNP portion), did you work during these semesters? If you did, was it part-time or per diem? Do you suggest it or advise against it? I have recently reached out to my employer and it looks like I will be cutting back hours from 3/3 to 3/2 at the start of the 2017 year. Not sure if cutting back 1 day per pay period is at all significant in regards to study time. Work isn't a requirement for me as I'm already taking out loans, so if need be I can resign. The important thing is that my grades don't suffer. Just wondering if anyone was in the same boat at the start of the program. Any insight will be most helpful. Thanks in advance. -Alex

Hello everyone, I know some programs require their students to get an 85% or higher on all exams; anything below is considered failing. Does anyone know if FGCU has the same type of policy when it comes to grades? The whole >85% thing is terrifying. Thanks .

Had my interview last week, first time on the campus and fell in love with it. The west coast of FL is beautiful, I can totally see myself living happily there. Got my acceptance this past Monday, has anyone else been accepted? Down to 2 schools, need to make a decision asap.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I would have to move to the west coast of FL as I already live in Ft. Lauderdale. What I really like about FGCU is their class size, normally about 18 students as opposed to 44 with FIU. Having a smaller ratio of students to teachers/simulators is also a benefit. But finishing with a DNP does sound enticing, especially when employers may expect it in the years to come. Thanks again.

So this is my first time posting on this thread. I was recently accepted to both FIU and FGCU, starting this January. I like the fact that at FIU I would graduate with my Doctorate and be done, I would live at home with the folks, but the first 2 semesters are all online and anything below an 85% is considered failing. However, I've heard great things about FGCU also, smaller class size, open door policies, "not as intense," etc. But, I would have to move out to the west coast and not save money living at home. If there's anyone in either program than can give some insight about the respected programs and help me make a decision I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!!!
