  1. Geleesa, your response shows you aren't taking to heart the advice you've been given...You can't expect to only get the answers you want or why even ask, you know. I responded very kindly on the last page, I really hope you take that to heart, and read the thread Heather posted & maybe even talk to the member who started that thread. Sometimes it's hard (oh how I know that) but you have to say, hey that came out wrong or I meant to say it this way & no hard feelings a fresh start...but to keep retorting sarcastically will get you no help.
  2. My comments only go to the poster as advice on the bulletin board...when you come into a new group of people especially one this large, and post in a general area it's much like walking into a large sports arena full of nurses and shouting "Why are all nurses mean?!!!" what kind of response do you think you'll get. Be cautious, considerate and come with open arms that say "I'm here to learn" and you'll be amazed the difference in responses you'll get. Lose the attitude, seriously, coming from another student and very involved member. I'm sure you have lots to contribute. A more appropriate way to ask is to say, I'm having this problem yada yada, how can I remedy the situation? And I bet your responses would be much different...I also bet you'd get a ton of encouragement. It's often not what we say, but HOW we say it. I LOVE the search feature, you'll learn a plethra on just about any subject too, so it is good that you were told to try it, it's an important tool. Whew. where'd that come from, eh? Can I have a drink now???
  3. Yep. I'm expecting to see them on the cover of Time or Life or whatever, if they haven't been already, maybe they have.
  4. Hmm I think Penii?
  5. Hehehe been there, done that Jessy. Ok, not exactly the same bumpy situation but you know. There is no way to get him to go, but in my case I told him I was tired of pestering him & that if it killed him I didn't care since I'm his beneficiary Oh well. I know the frustration of people assuming you are now ready to diagnose them since your in nursing school, then not wanting to hear, hmm you should see your doctor. You've done what you can. Stick around the board Hey I haven't said member yet...ah there all better...
  6. exactly...or ones I think of have had to drop out or are still going..and going... and will be going for ever because it is usually impossible to really focus on a real classload and still go to all the parties and skip class. The kinship you'll feel with your classmates & the pride you will feel when you have a career waiting for you after you hard work in nursing school is what makes up the college experience. School is what you make it, maybe you just need to take some time off to decide what you really want. I had a year off & it was the best thing to get me in the right direction.
  7. Congratulations on the new babies! ...funny how you forget how teeny they come out as :chuckle They are precious!
  8. Alright! Almost 2 weeks Sounds like you are doing great, I can't wait to hear your little one has safely arrived...thanks to your couch arrest :kiss
  9. Lausana replied to Liann's topic in Ob/Gyn

  10. Hey now, I thought you were going to end up in Indy Good luck as you head back to school!
  11. Sound like it should be finished with "in Mr. Roger's Neighborhood" :chuckle
  12. I do the laundry and run the dishwasher...the pots & pans get washed before I need to use them again :chuckle :imbar As I've said before as long as it looks organized if someone were to drop by, I can handle it being dirty.
  13. :roll You should title this "Ode to the Trophy Wife" Good One!:chuckle
  14. exactly kim! it isn't as if they can communicate any other way
  15. hhhhmmmmm....sounds like there was some Valentine's babymaking going on here :imbar (actually looking at the calendar maybe that's a little off-OK maybe Spring Fever rather than Valentine's Day!) Congratulations to all the mommies-to-be! I managed to waddle to work and up & down the stairs up to just before the day of my delivery....My co-workers gave me a "let's just humor her since she could squish us with all that weight" looks when I told them that the 13th would be my last day of work before my leave & I wasn't due until the 20th. I just knew--I could feel it was time. OK I was a day off, I delivered on the 13th-close enough! But anyway, trust your body's warnings and take off early if you feel you need it.
  16. Aww man, I thought maybe we had a very own "Doogie Houser" in nurse form I had the biggest crush on Doogie, lol.:imbar
  17. I turned the big 21 last month:balloons: Unfortunately, I'll still be a youngster when I graduate, but I'm a non-traditional student & feel much older (then again aren't most of us a little non traditional:p )
  18. [LOL, Mario, I think I love you...in a 'bulletin board' way, hehe...you crack me up...:kiss We had 1 guy in our Nutrition class too, a couple others at first but they dropped. He was great, he'd just sit and "learn" as we had women talk before class!] Mine was a 3hr. course, Food & Nutrition...book was Essentials of Nutrition, don't remember who it was by. It was taught by a registered dietition, with a masters, she worked at a local hospital and schools. It was for an ADN program, but it's also required for the BSN too. We had several different small projects--diet analysis, case study/questions, food labeling, etc. and a larger internet research project on a related topic of our choice. It was a very interesting class and I learned a lot, but our teacher was a little obsessed about making sure we knew how to "feed a diabetic", lol, I think she saw so many people who were clueless when they came in to the hospital she must want to beat her head against the wall, but it became a standing class joke for us!.
  19. adnstudent, I'm sad to hear you're sad. But you've gotten some great advice & I'm sure it will really help, just talking it out with everyone here has helped I'm sure! I've been there too. I was depressed for about 6 months, and now wish I would have gotten help for it, it would have helped me get through it easier. It's hard to be alone, we're made to feel "weird" if we're the single one. I had 3 friends get married in 2001 all 21 and 22, and that was hard since we're all so young, but my best friend & I are both single after breakups and it helped to surround myself with others like me. Watching my friends get married & go through boyfriends makes me realize I really wouldn't want to trade places with them, I know I was dependent on someone else for a long time, I don't want to be that way now-- Except for one friend, they haven't lived completely alone, supported themselves, gotten an education for themselves (2 dropped out of college to get married) and I know that no matter what my relationship status is, I can see what I've done for myself and be proud, and I think that kind of attitude definately appeals to others. Not that I don't want to bang my head against the wall, or cry "just because" its hard to be lonely but its getting easier, sorry I'm rambling on...but you're definately not alone, it seems hard to find people "offline" to identify with on stuff like this--it's just easier here!! Anyway, you'll be in my thoughts and prayers...keep us posted on how things are going! Mario--I totally understand your feelings on the cell phone--I stopped buying minutes for my phone--I just don't have a need for them anymore! I do remember chatting with my bf on my phone to his, sometimes even while on the way to meet each other---ah, puppy love :)
  20. ...another good place to go is the Red Cross-they have classes a couple times a month and it was only $35.
  21. I've decided to make a career change from working in an office to nursing. I plan on starting nursing school in the fall but I need some more info before I really get into this! The posts I've read so far have been really helpful I have an idea on salary but what about shifts? What is an average of hrs nurses are working now per week? Does this vary between depts? I would like to work maternity/l&d--does this area have pretty regular hours? I really need to make a career change to something I will enjoy, but also want to be as involved in my son's life as possible & need a regular schedule. Leslie
