As you'd probably expect, the questions were behavioral based. I thought of about 5-8 good "stories" from nursing school/PCT work experiences and patient/family interactions that could be used in a variety of different types of questions. I think the...
I am (was) from out of state, so I did not have any clinicals at TCH or anywhere else in the medical center. About 2/3 of my new grad cohort did, the rest of us did not. I would imagine that it helps to have clinicals (especially to do your senior pr...
I really do. It's a very diverse unit and there is always so much to learn. Everyone is incredibly helpful and supportive. I can't believe I've been here for almost a year.
I'm not sure about antepartum, but I do know that some of the antepartum GNs were hoping to transfer to L&D after about a year or so. As for nicu, there were 8 of us in my cohort (summer 2015): 3 in nicu4 days, 3 in nicu4 nights, 2 in pavilion ni...

I definitely understand your stress of trying to find that first new grad job in the amazing place that is the Texas Medical Center, especially as an out of state student with ZERO on-site clinicals. It is a big challenge, but it is possible! I am an...
(To GN2015 about the acute care interview): It was not bad. The interviewers were very friendly and fun to talk with. The questions were, as we all expect, behavioral based. Get there early if you are not familiar with TCH and the medical center. Goo...

Yes. I also interviewed with acute care and nicu today. They're conducting the acute care interviews now through friday. You might call HR and ask the status of your application?
Hi! I got a call yesterday from TCH (nurse recruiter/HR) to set up a time/date for interviews with the nurse managers in the CVICU and PICU. I'm equally excited and nervous! I was told that they will be calling over the next 2-ish weeks as they deter...
Go for it! The best student in our class is in his early 50s. The combination of maturity, life experiences, and true passion make him an excellent nurse.

The one thing that helps me the most is going through my notes IMMEDIATELY after the exam (as soon as I walk out the door) and highlighting the information that was in the test questions. I do this again after the test review. True, there may be diff...

Many students in my class work at one of three local hospitals. Their general way of "getting in" was to call the HR department and express interest in working (as a nursing student). Everyone seems to love it.
