I enjoy teaching nursing students. He or she must understand I have a pt load and not also available right when he or she needs me. But I make time eventually. I do not appreciate students who think they know it all.

Yes, the psy. pt's at the VA Hosp. get combative and exhibit strange behavior. I would rather be home on those evenings.

I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother.I work with a pt. in LTC at the VA who has Pick's disease.She is now total care.Like shopgal says it it a brain disease.It progressively gets worse. Sometimes the pt. exhibits combative behavior towards the staff. We love her dearly.

I am interested in the excelsior program. I like the fact you can attend school right at home in your PJ's. Can anyone tell me the good and the bad about excelsior program?? Yes, I have read other post. :nurse:

Yes, to all your questions. You see more hygienists in VA hosptial than regular hospitals. It can get repetitive at times. RDH are growing in demand. It can be just as fulfilling as being a nurse. I am speaking from having clinicals in school. Read my post below. It is harder to find a job. Most dentists want experienced RDH's. I have encounter this problem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How do I ever get experience if noone will hire me ??
