how to defend yourself against lab complaint
As to the lawyer, my friend says they are innocent and it's a class 2 (?) serious enough that a second one will be grounds to be fired. And friend does not know any other way to protect themselves and remove an error from their file.

how to defend yourself against lab complaint
I really don't know why. According to my friend, the lab has filed numerous complaints lately after years of no complaints, at least this exact complaint. My friend pointed this out at the hearing. My friend called it a tier 2 complaint, I think.

Is this not as serious as my friend thinks? How do you protect yourself? Other nurses on the unit/shift are not very friendly. Not sure whom to trust.

how to defend yourself against lab complaint
Friend had just started in CCU. Preceptor asked for a blood draw. Draw was done, labeled, and sent to the lab. Lab filed a complaint against friend stating mislabeling. The vial was returned with a different cap than those used in CCU and the label looked like it had been removed and reapplied. How do you defend against an accusation of which you have no proof. It's a lab says/friend says situation. Manager first said obviously lab error but at hearing did an about face. Union rep not much help either. Results will come back next week at the earliest. If against friend should a lawyer be hired? This would be on the record as a first of 2 offenses before being fired.

Which Malpractice Insurance, NSO or CM&F group?
My friend need to get some insurance and I was wondering which insurer you preferred, NSO or C M & F group? Or, is there some other company you feel is better? I think I'm leaning towards NSO right now. Any help/advise is greatly appreciated. Not sure if the state makes a difference, but it's for Michigan RN.

renewing license last minute
For some reason I didn't get the paperwork to renew my license. My DoN asked if I had renewed and was surprised I had not. I did so on line, but only with 5 days remaining and 2 of them are weekend days. What happens if I don't hear by the end of the month? Also, there was a question about being suspended or fired. I answered honestly that I had, but that case is also being handled by a lawyer and looking like it will go in my favor. That being said, how do I get that off my record? Do I just call the state? Thanks.

What is your average amount of shift cancellations
In a given month, what is the average amount of time you have lost your regularly scheduled shift do to census or any other reason? In an average year, how much money do you feel you've lost/missed out on?

Thank you so much, I'm assuming you mean for me to send this via email.

verbal job offer, orientation set, no paper work
When I was offered the job I was told the shift I would work, how many weekends were required, the base pay and shift differential, and my orientation date. I didn't think to ask any other questions and now I'm not sure how to ask for all this to be given to me in written form, not just verbal. What would be an appropriate way to ask for a written offer?

verbal job offer, orientation set, no paper work
I have not been at my current place long at all. The reason I would leave is the new job is in a big hospital with significantly better pay. I have not asked as I don't know how, what to say?

Verbal job offer but no formal letter...
I am in the same position. Orientation date given, hours given, pay rate stated, but no papers. I learned the hard way, that if it's not written down it didn't exist. How do I protect myself? This is a major hospital, but I don't want to give notice without a paper trail. Suggestions?
-
what is considered "official offer"?
I'm not sure what you mean by finishing an assignment either, but make sure you won't get written up for patient abandonment. I heard of a nurse working for an at home agency. They would not release that nurse from the position and stated they would file patient abandonment charges if they quit. This nurse got around it by refusing to renew thier license

verbal job offer, orientation set, no paper work
I am currently working and had an interview from an application I submitted months ago. I wasn't actively looking for a new job as I've only been here 3 months. They gave me a verbal job offer and set up an orientation date, but I have no paper work. I need to give notice to my current position, but am scared to do this as I've been burned one too many times. I've learned that it was never said or done if it isn't written down. What should I do? I don't want to burn bridges. I'd like to take the new job but if I don't get the paperwork tomorrow, I won't have 2 weeks between my giving notice and the orientation.

How often does your shift get cancelled
Thank you. So much to think about. McLaren doesn't have a lot of nursing jobs come up, it seems.

How often does your shift get cancelled
While reading some of the posts I see that hospital nurses sometimes have their shift cancelled. How often does that happen? Interview coming with McLaren of Flint. Currently in LTC with more overtime than I want/need. Cancelled shifts are worrying me somewhat. Any advice? I'm already not sure of the job because it's nights. But, the pay increase is nice. Thanks

I just heard about a DON being fired for dating a co-worker. Against company policy. Know the rules first.

Nauseous vs Nauseated (another grammar lesson)
Or the now popular term '"be like" instead of using a correct form like "said" or asked". Or others using the term I instead of me. Just two of my pet peeves. I love to read and feel like I should have been and editor.

Fired and reported to BON
I went to the site and saw some of the actions taken this past month. This one is concerning: 01 /02/2015 Violation of General Summary Suspension Duty/Negligence Incompetence I don't remember the exact wording of the letter my friend received when fired but it was basically incompetence. Will/can my friend lose their license?
