CHOP 2021 New Graduate Program
CONGRATS! So you have a few (under 6m) RN experience but are still hired as a new grad? The website was worded a bit confusing: "CHOP hires Registered Nurses with 1-12 months of RN experience into Nurse Resident positions. These nurses will be offered professional development opportunities; however, would not be eligible for the formal Nurse Residency Program." Do you know how it differs? I have a few months experience and am looking to apply but wasn't sure how the formal program differs. Thanks! And and Congrats again! :)

WGU FNP
For those doing the WGU FNP program, how is it going? When does the clinical/lab portion start? How far into the program until it's no longer just online/didactic coursework? Thanks! :)

UCSD New Grad January/February 2021
Hi! For those of you who started the New Grad program earlier this year, how is it going? I am curious about the structure. I hear you have your 3 clinical shifts, plus one 4h class/month (for 6 months) with the whole cohort plus unit specific bootcamp. What does the bootcamp entail? Is it in person classes with only your small unit cohort, online/hybrid etc? Would love to hear more! And congrats. :)

Is anyone in CA, especially San Diego (local to the school), doing the USU FNP program? Would be curious to hear how it is going and where your clinicals are.

WGU FNP 2020-2021
Sure! I didn't want to ask all my specific questions on the thread that wouldn't be applicable to everyone but happy to share! In a nutshell (and Jbrn you can correct me if I misunderstood), my broader questions were in regards to clinical timeline and preceptors. I did the prelicensure program through WGU and wanted to know if the classes were similar (and to those that are familiar, it sounds like they are but with more papers and less proctored OAs.) Your 650 clinical hours are in the last 3 'internship' courses and not in the 6 core courses or 7 FNP specialty courses (another difference from prelicensure that included required clinical hours for specific classes.) Sounds like there is a required 'clinical bootcamp' before you start your first internship course. Lastly, the Jbrn and WGU directly confirmed that students are responsible for finding their own APRN preceptors when the time comes. Your mentor can help you if you have problems but it's on the student to secure. I have a call with them early this week so if I hear anything else, I'll post it here!

Here to do the same. :) When did you graduate with your BSN? I am a WGU BSN grad from early 2019. Looking forward to more information and I reached out to their enrollment team as well.

Childrens Hospital of Colorado - Summer 2020 New Grad Residency
For those who accepted the offer (congrats!) and started the residency in the Summer, how is it going? Any changes with COVID? (Are classes online, smaller groups, etc.) Anyone know if they are being more lenient with the grad timeline of having graduated within last 12 months? I graduated over 12 months ago but do not have any RN paid experience. It's a tough market for us (awesome) peds nurses! :)

UC Health (Colorado) Nurse Residency Program
I don't have experience with UCHealth in particular but most residencies want to see you do your final preceptorship in the unit you are most interested/applying into. You said you don't graduate until May 2021, so try to set yourself up for a critical/intensive care final rotation and log those hours in ICU for experience and residency expectations. Good luck!

CHOC Children's RN Residency August 2020
Not sure if it's helpful, but I had a conversation with their nurse recruiter just before the application opened. I applied last round to NICU at Mission and she told me they did hire last round for the unit, but ONLY internal (I was not internal.) I remember following the thread for that cohort and NICU seemed to be the last to hear then as well. According to the recruiter, they were hoping to extend offers to external applicants this time, but I think it's hard to know until applications are received. Obviously they give preference first to internal applicants. I did receive a notification of not selected last round, so everyone should hear one way or the other! I wish everyone the best of luck! And like she said, if you don't get it the first or second time you apply, KEEP APPLYING! (They get SO many applications!) ? ?

Loma Linda Children’s Hospital (LLUCH) RN Residency - Fall 2020
Yes I figured that would be what happened but I am pretty sure I submitted and didn't save as a draft. It was so long ago now, I can't be sure but that would be a HUGE bummer! I kept checking to see if I could edit and submit but there was never a button to submit/resubmit so I figured it was sent. The wording just threw me off. I guess they will let me know for sure. Ugh. Thank you for replying and best of luck! ?

Loma Linda Children’s Hospital (LLUCH) RN Residency - Fall 2020
Mine never changed from "draft submission: Active"... which is really confusing that it never even went to "completed submission." Did I mess something up? Did yours show 'completed submission' when you submitted? The 'draft' is oddly worded. I reached out to make sure they actually received it completed on their end. Either way, under recruiter review is a good sign I would think! ?

Possibly PSC or volunteer? I'm not sure either. But they definitely want to see a dedication to CHOC AND why are you passionate about that specific unit! She said they will hold interviews either by distance or in person depending on the unit. They are always panel interviews. Good luck guys!
