You know you're a male RN when......
You know that you're a male RN when 1. Male patient's would prefer that a male nurse would do the cath insertion. 2. You're co-worker demands you to do the perinial prep of the male patient.

Nursing students and new nurses.....about injection sites
as a nursing stud..that was like my 2nd year, we were taught to find all the landmarks of the sites and we did a return demonstration in front of a clinical instructor and of course with a student partner....we did all the injections. Its actually a requirement for us so that we would be able to enrol for the next sem and be able to do the capping and badging which here in the Phil. signifies a studnt to be in the clinical rotation in the 3rd-4rth year. That was tough hahaha.Intradermal was the one rated by me as the most painful..buit here in the Univ. that im in we are not actually taught how to do IV Insertion...we can just always do the assist your doctor or med intern and just observe.

Would you admin. a med "For IV use only"..IM?
OMG.even if im still a senior stud...That,s a no no for me.

in search of a NURSING SCHOOL IN THE PHILIPPINES?
Most of the nursing schools here in the philippines would really require you to take up the basics of nursing like the human ana for example. Its bein demanded actually by the CHED office. So the Nursing school has no choice but to follow the policy.

Going Back To The Philippines to Study (Need Feedback)
Hi, im currently a senior nursing student here in the phil as far as I'm concerned its better to study here in the phil coz, you've already got a BS so most likely you would be taking up 2yrs only in the nursing course. When it comes to the tuition the tuition here in the Phil is more cheaper compared to the US based Nursing Schools..as well as the lodging..its much more cheaper...hehehe.

Has anyone here had to do clinicals in OB
Here, in the philippines you as a student nurse gets alot of OB rotations specially in the Delivery Room because weve got cases to complete before we can take our NLEX here in the country. Then you get assigned to OB Wards where alot of moms delivered or some whom they missed their babies. Its agreat rotation coz moms that have been assigned to me listen's to all the important health teachings bein in the stage of post-partum etc.

Being a man in the field
Im a male student nurse who was first assigned at the OB/DR. I was afraid first but certainly gaved in,seeing a delivery is like a miracle...you hear the newborns first cry, the smeell of an acid, the smile of the mother when seeing for the first time her child or the reaction and feelings that can be seen in a mothers face while on labor......can you see its nice to be at the OB/DR?But still prefer OR i like challenges and oh the Adrenaline rush....... Male student nurses here in the phil well there are lots of us in...but some are gay.....hehehe

What's Your Best Nursing Ghost Story?
There is this incident in the Nurse's Station where one of my clinical instructors were staying....he told us that at a certain room someone who's gonna be admitted in there would lierally die within the week after the admission. That they sensed that its like a place with goosebumps.... The second story is also a personal experience of my clinical instructor before he got in into the academe. There was once a time he had a night shift 11pm to 7am.There were 3 of them staying at the station and suddenly he smelled a scent of flower its locally called here in the philippines as sampaguita. He asked his conurse on duty if they were using a perfume whis is made out of sampaguita and both the two nurses said they arent using any perfume at that time.....then suddenly all of them got quite.........by the end of the shift they talked about it and theyve got creeps of smeeling something like that......creepy isnt it? Heres by pin up......all of us nurses(including me eventhough im still a student nurse) would see, feel strange things in the hospital because its the ploace where alot of souls would leave their body......we can feel....but we most of the time neglect them coz we might be thinking of other things...... happy reading.......plz share......some
