Pressure Ulcers as a Quality Indicator?
I am writing a paper on pressure ulcers because think that they are expensive and difficult to treat. Pressure ulcers also decrease the quality of life for patients and increase mortality, especially in the elderly. I was wondering if anyone's unit uses pressure ulcers as a quality indicator. If it does, do you know what is the rate of pressure ulcers on your unit? Does your facility utilize a multidisciplinary wound care team or does the wound care team comprise of only nurses? Thanks for your help.

Help! Need to Interview a Nurse Information Expert
I haven't tried that yet. Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that. I am just worried that they might think it's weird if I contacted them for an interview.

Help! Need to Interview a Nurse Information Expert
Hi. I have an upcoming assignment for my nursing informatics class that requires me to interview an RN who is a nursing information expert. Job titles that may be acceptable for this assignment include nursing clinical information manager, super user, director/manager clinical education, chief information officer, quality assurance or performance improvement nurse, nurse informaticist, telenursing specialist, nurse abstractor, case manager, and compliance nurse. I have 8 short interview question to ask related to this field of nursing. I know that your time is valuable so if there is anyone that can help me or refer me to resources where I can someone to interview, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

online rn to bsn chamberlain college
You can get Microsoft office free sometimes if you enter your student email and your school is on the list of one of the applicable schools. I attended an ADN program and used my school email to get Microsoft office for free for four years. I would try that before buying anything. If it doesn't work, you can always use Google Docs to type your papers.

all time anxiety with clinicals
It is normal to be nervous. Many students are nervous even when they've had experience in the health care setting. Since it is your first semester, they probably will not let you go off on your own without any instructions or guidance. Usually there is some sort of orientation about what to expect, maybe a tour of the unit you will be on, and a scavenger hunt to find the crash cart, fire extinguishers/alarms, exits, supplies, etc. You will probably get only one patient to work with during your first clinical week and it's good to check if that patient is willing to work with a student to make it less nerve wracking for you. Most patients I have met welcome students. They meet so many people throughout the day that assess their health that they could probably teach you a few things. You can also find support from your classmates. They may be as anxious on the first day as you are.

Study Groups or Study Alone ???
Study groups are good if you need some motivation to set time aside to study or people to bounce concepts off but it does not replace reading. I recommend joining study groups if you have time for it and if you find yourself not focused when studying alone.

Passed the nclex-rn 2nd try with 265 questions and low kaplan scores
Congratulations. I'm glad you didn't give up. I took Kaplan too to prepare. Scores are not everything. Like you, I didn't score really high on Kaplan. I'm not sure I passed, still waiting for the results but the anxiety of taking a test is hard. I think that's the hardest part about taking any test. You just have to go in focused and leave the baggage at the door. In the worse case scenario, if you don't pass, you can take it again and work on areas you needed to improve on.

Retaking A Course
You would be okay without retaking it. Some schools only takr the first passing grade also. Sociology is not a course that they weigh heavily and a B is not that bad. I would just focus on the other classes you need unless you don't need any more.

Alright ladies/gents I need your help!!
Fall seems pretty intense to me but it depends on how prepared you feel. Many times counselors create the SEP hoping for the best possible outcomes without making it based on each individual. I would see how spring semester goes first. Don't overwhelm yourself with the need to finish within a certain semester if you need more study time with a particular class, especially with the nursing prereqs. Everyone is different though. If you aren't sure you need the history class, why don't you check if you can swap it for the statistics class. Math gives some people anxiety and communications is a relatively easy class as long as you actively participate.

Biology & Chemistry
It is possible to pass A&P without remembering about biology and chemistry but I would suggest pre reading the chapter before lecture so you can ask questions if you get stuck in those areas after class. As long as you keep up with the coursework, you should be OK without retaking those classes.

Should I work part time and full time in college for my adn?
I wouldn't recommend it unless you can't get through college without working. Going to college for any major is already stressful and full of distractions. Most colleges will want you to get a B or better in the nursing prerequisites so stay focused if you can.

Don't know where to go from here
If you are going to retake the teas again, invest in the official book and make time to study ahead of time. Pace yourself and look at how long it takes you to finish the practice tests. They have practice tests online that you can purchase but don't take them until you are ready to. I would recommend looking at your scores on both tests to see what areas you are weakest at and use that as a starting point to study. When you take the test again, don't cram. Get plenty of sleep and eat well. They are long tests. Good luck.

Ohlone College- RN program Fall 2014/Spring 2015
Do your physical when you get the paperwork sent to you. There's no need to rush. Spring students will probably get their paperwork in October or November. The orientation date is for registration for new students to Ohlone even if you have college credit from other places.

Ohlone College Spring 2014 RN program
I don't know about the prereqs. They program is usually 7-8k. About half of the cost is when you start for supplies and books. Start saving. Prereqs at community college are about 46 dollars per unit unless you qualify for bog waiver or financial aid. I don't know the cost for Ohlone specifically but I'm guessing most cc's in California are going to cost about the same. It also depends on how many prereqs you are missing. Books vary from each class for prereqs. There are programs like EOPS and that can help with book costs. You can also borrow the book from the library for a few hours, buy online or rent the books.

Ohlone College- RN program Fall 2014/Spring 2015
Don't get your shots until they tell you to. It's usually on a cycle. Also, CPR has to last for the school year so have to remember when you need to renew it. I would review anatomy and physiology in your free time so you aren't totally overwhelmed by the time you start.

I am so frustrated with Anatomy & Physiology :(
It depends on how your test is structured. There isn't one studying method that works for everyone so don't compare yourself to your bf's mom or think there's something wrong with you. It might be worthwhile to see what type of learner you are and then try different methods of study. Also go over your old tests and see if you had understood the concepts to the questions you missed. If you didn't understand them then flash cards didn't work. Try something else. If you did understand them, see why you missed the question. Sometimes people change their answers or don't read carefully.
