  1. Hello! I need advice please. I realize this is a board for Nurses and I am a student, but I feel an experienced RN could give me the best advice. My passion is OB and NICU. My preceptorship is a few months away, but my clinical instructor has already arranged for me to precept in Postpartum. For some reason the hospital won't have an L&D position. I ultimately plan to work in L&D, NICU, or postpartum, but I know I may have to work in Med Surg or even SNF before I get there. Will I be at a disadvantage having my preceptorship in Postpartum when I go to look for a job? I'm just worried because postpartum at this hospital only does PO meds and I won't be using many skills besides maybe an occasional catheter. Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful to have this opportunity but I don't want to put myself at a disadvantage since most of the jobs are in med surg. Also, when I go to look for a job I will have my ADN and will be finishing up pre-reqs to start my BSN a few months later. Also, there is zero chance of a job offer where I will be precepting because of budget cuts and possible lay-offs. Thanks for the advice!
  2. As far as white non-see through pants, I have found a brand I really like. The Women's Cherokee Work Wear white cargo pants are great! All of the pockets make it easy to carry essentials, as well as adding an extra layer of fabric to make the pants thicker. I start my program on the 19th, I'm terrified and excited at the same time! Good luck to everyone!

  4. AliBear, and anyone else that got into Chabot: I created a Group on Facebook to make it easier to communicate. Look up the group "Chabot ADN Class of 2015". See you there!
  5. I don't about the programs personally. I got into Chabot, Livermore campus, and plan on transferring to CSUEB when done. If you get into CSUEB, take it! If you go the Chabot->CSUEB route, it will take 3 years total. But if you just go straight to CSUEB it will take 2 years. With your grades and TEAS score, you are pretty much guaranteed to get into CSUEB. Did you get into the Hayward or Livermore campus for Chabot?
  6. I got in, but am declining since I got in somewhere else. I will email them right now, so an alternate can have a chance! Good luck to you all!
  7. Congrats AliBear, I got into Chabot Livermore as well!
  8. I just wanted to update everyone. I emailed Chabot to ask, and the acceptance/waitlist letters were sent out today. Hopefully we will get them in the mail tomorrow!
  9. Cristina417, I actually got into Ohlone, so I will be going there in the Fall. Good luck, you should find out soon!
  10. Ha! I figured since we might be classmates...
  11. Great, let me know what your friend says!
  12. I did get provisionally accepted for Chabot, but since there are only 10 spots for Livermore I doubt I will get in (I live in San Ramon). Ohlone is an exceptional program. I don't think Livermore has the SIM lab like Ohlone and Chabot Hayward do.
  13. I was surprised too. Great, we will be classmates!
  14. Mindistronnie, are you accepted for Fall at Ohlone as well?
  15. I'm sorry to those that didn't get in. I know Evergreen college is taking applications in October. Don't give up hope to those on the waitlist. I heard one year they went through 10 people on the waitlist in just a matter of days...
