NCLEX PN
That's right girl claim it! I think the waiting is worse than the test lol. When mine cut off at 85 I was kinda relieved. Like you all my classmates have passed and with only 85 questions so I took that as a sign. I can't wait for you to get your results so you can breathe again. Just FYI I passed on Saturday and had my license # issued Thursday evening. Once your pending exam and supervisor have been accepted you can go to print my license and see it before it shows up on llr. There maybe a 30 min to an hour delay between acceptance and being able to print it. Keep the faith!

NCLEX PN
Hi I just took my test last weekend. I felt the same way as you. I knew I would pass but there was still a seedling of doubt. Everyone's experience is unique but it wasn't that bad IMO. Did I know everything? NOPE! But I took it one question at a time. I've never suffered from test anxiety and I'm naturally an optimistic person so I walked in and out of Pearson claiming a pass until I saw otherwise. You know your abilities, you said you're confident so hold on to that. This is something that you can and will do!

Challenges
Does your school have open lab sessions where a teacher can either demonstrate the skill again or help you master it before a check off? I watched YouTube videos but the only way I was able to know I was learning the skills the way my school wanted me to was in open lab with a classmate or instructor watching me with the check off list. Best of luck to you!

Should autism parenting be an Olympic event? A trip to the dentist
The Calming Clippers are an awesome idea but I'm not sure they would work with his hair type. I've tried using regular ear plugs but that didn't go over so well. Next I'll try child sized ear plugs and the ear bud idea with one of his favorite TV shows playing. Thank you for the suggestions.

Should autism parenting be an Olympic event? A trip to the dentist
I just went through this today. It's so awful and it makes me feel like a bad parent. My oldest had no cavities which I pretty much expected but my youngest son who is autistic has more cavities again. It's not from lack of trying to brush his teeth. He bites down on the brush only giving you one minute to do what you need to. I've put off getting them filled as long as I could because he's had dental work before and it's been traumatizing to both of us. The nitrous oxide gas did nothing but give him a nap until the dentist came in the room. I was so happy when they said they're offering sedation dentistry again. People who aren't going through it honestly don't understand. Thank you so much for letting us know we're not alone. Now we just need to master haircuts. He can't stand the sound of the clippers.

Searching for a go-at-your-own pace online Anatomy & Physiology I plus lab course
Your school may accept completing a stand alone anatomy and separate physiology course in place of A&P I & II. Together both options usually equal 8 semester hrs and cover the same material. In my area schools accept either option. It's worth checking in to.
-
How long is your program?
My program is only 10 months long. We have long days, lots of material but it is doable.

TEAS test AFTER you get in program.
That is interesting. Are students required to pay for the exam?
-
TEAS test AFTER you get in program.
A school in my area required their students to take the TEAS after admission during the first semester. They did this for a number of years. I guess they were compiling data, comparing the ability of the students to complete the program with TEAS scores. After a significant drop in their first time NCLEX pass rate the TEAS became admission criteria.

Single Parent CNA
Have you thought about working with a home health or hospice agency?

Graduate RN
If you want to be a PA you should go for it. Take the time to research different schools across the country and scholarships and grants to help costs. You may find your goal is more attainable after all. MUSC in Charleston, SC doesn't require a bachelors degree for admission and most if not all prerequisites can be taken at 2 year schools.

Canadian LPN in United States
I imagine the first step would be for them to become licensed in the state they wish to work in but I honestly have no idea.

What do you tell yourself to get you through a shift?
I should clarify that I'm a pool CNA at my local hospital. My assignments lately have involved sitting with patients who basically sleep my entire 7a to 7p shift or having a patient group that doesn't require much assistance. Those type of assignments cause time to drag for me. I like to stay busy so I don't have time to watch the clock.
-
What do you tell yourself to get you through a shift?
I begin my shift by telling myself i 12 hours to go...then in an hour I'll remind myself 11 hours left...after 60 minutes I get happy cause now I only have 10 hours left in my shift. I repeat this until I only have 30 minutes left in my shift then I start a conversation with myself about how unprofessional it is of my relief to late because now I can't leave on time. Both happen every shift.

Blood glucose w high and low solutions
Fellow student here but could they be referring to the glucose controls? We have a high and low control that we use to test the monitor. Unless they want you to actually test a blood glucose maybe they want you to stimulate the act using the high and low solutions.

White pants. Freaking white pants.
I hate wearing white pants but my programs requires them too. To be sure I'm not flashing my underwear I wear thigh length Spanx under mine. So far so good.

Low cost/Free Physical Exam, Immunization?
I was able to get a physical for school at my local Walmart care clinic for $40. Are any clinics located in your area?

Low cost/Free Physical Exam, Immunization?
Are you near any federal health centers? They go by sliding scales.

Becoming an RN?
You'd be better off going to a technical college for prerequisites then transferring to a BSN program at one of SC's public universities. I have nothing against SCSU, I'm a former student. While Columbia is the flagship it is not the only branch of USC. I know of four other branches that offer a BSN and one that offers an associates degree in nursing.
-
Becoming an RN?
Sorry but no. Beginning spring 2015 SCSU will only offer RN to BSN. You can Google South Carolina Board of Nursing and on their site they have an education link that will lead you to the option of selecting all LPN or RN programs in the state. That's a great place to start. Find the schools that offer nursing and go from there.
