  1. Any more info on the program here?
  2. Is there anyone here on AN in the Chamberlain program from Texas?
  3. Have you been able to verify if they are accepted in Texas for clinicals?
  4. Any updates on the Herzing program? I'm in Texas (I have not had official verification that Herzing graduates are able to license in TX) and already have clinical sites set up. However, this is a new program and I would like to read more opinions prior to applying.
  5. Take some time off, relax, and when you are ready return with a vengeance. I have been out of school for a long time and I recently took NCLEX. When I studied the material it all felt new to me (much of it was). The following material took me from zero confidence to very confident in a few months (1-2 hours studying max per day as I have a full time business and I'm a father of four). Hurst review (did it over and over and over again!) Made sure to memorize all labs Kalpan Qbank (completed 90%) La Charity PDA (took quizzes and reread rationales after) EKG online study guide mentioned here on AN very often (forget the name of it but it's pretty basic) 35 page study guide floating around AN. The memorizing of the airborne, contact, and droplet precautions was VERY helpful. Best of luck to you and don't forget the power of prayer! Have faith in yourself as you've made it this far for a reason. -Robert
  6. I completed Hurst review followed by 90% of Qbank with a score of 58%. Passed NCLEX this week with 75 questions.
  7. Received my official "PASS" from Pearson Vue!
  8. I think my money spent on Hurst was well worth it. Everyone's core content strength, testing strength, etc. is different so for many a review course may be appropriate and beneficial. I agree that doing plenty of challenging questions (Kaplan Qbank is excellent) is almost a necessity. Also, La Charity PDA is an excellent resource. Congratulations
  9. I'm not sure but I can say that I felt very prepared for most of the questions by using Hurst and Kaplan's qbank.
  10. Kaplan was very similar but more difficult.
  11. What are the basic requirements for acceptance from Samford now? I've heard that they are a bit tighter on acceptance now.
  12. For content I went with: Hurst, a EKG study guide found online & the 35 page review floating around here For Q's I went with only Kaplan Qbank & La Charity. I tested today and was cut off at 75 with the good PVT pop up shortly after.
  13. High 60's at best. I thought Kaplan was harder than NCLEX. I really focused on memorizing labs, understanding EKGs, understanding the core content of Hurst, and didn't really do any more than Hurst for Pharm. Oh and I definitely ran through the study guide thats floating around here. The My Chicken Hez TB, Spiderman, and Mrs. Wee REALLY helped!
  14. I completed my BSN program a few years back and finally decided it was time to test. Earlier this year I decided to hit the books using Hurst, Kaplan Qbank, and LaCharity PDA. To be very honest, most of the material felt new to me. Hurst was excellent. I watched the videos a few times and studied the material over and over again. Then I moved on to Kaplans Qbank but I did not complete more than 90% of it. I averaged 58% but towards the end I was scoring higher on tests. I'm a full time business owner and father of four so all of this took place approximately 1-2 hours per day with the exception of the last two weeks. Today I went in to the test confident but very nervous and anxious. After approximately 30-40 questions I felt as if I knew a lot of the material. By the time I reached 70 I just prayed I wouldn't have to stay for all 265. I took a break (2 hour mark) at 74, sat back down and answered one question before it shut off. I had a lot of SATA questions but I felt Kaplan was much harder. A half hour later I was sitting in my truck, very nervous, and very anxious to try the PVT. Pearson Vue showed "Delivery Successful". After trying to register I received the pop up "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." I hope it is still reliably a 99.9% chance that I passed! :)
  15. I did Hurst online but I opted to pay the $300 for Kaplan Qbank instead of doing the Hurst questions. 1300 questions that are considered passing level so I felt it was worth it. Testing this week.
  16. I test on Friday and I'm also nervous. I did Hurst (online), La Charity, and Kaplan Qbank. So far I'm about 90% done and at 58-59%. However, my scores have been averaging more in the 60's now that I'm progressing further through the bank. My definite weaknesses are maternity, pharm and memorizing all labs. I'm more in fear of having 265 questions than I am of not passing.
  17. Your Qbank is very good. I'd have my money on you passing. Good luck!
  18. LaCharity PDA
  19. Definitely the wrong way to look at it. Show me an A student who has scored in the 90's overall with Kaplan.
  20. You will do fine. Trust me when I say I've searched and read about Qbank and trainer scores. Most in the 50's end up doing fine. It feels very low but realistically, it is rare to read about anyone averaging higher than the 50's to 60's on Qbanks.
  21. 70's on Qbanks is high. I'd say go for it.
  22. I feel very confident in the resources I'm currently using and would highly recommend them: 1.Hurst review 2.Kaplan Qbank 3.LaCharity PDA book 4.The 30-something page review floating around here on AllNurses.com 5.The Banner Health EKG review (free online)
  23. Awesome! Congratulations. If you don't mind me asking, how did you do on the Kaplan Qbank tests?
  24. Same here. I test in two weeks and I'm half way done with Qbank. I'm at around 55-56%. I'm finding that questions like calculations are easy and the "choose the best" type questions are difficult.
