  1. only you know what you can do! I am taking A&P during a regular semester and my class was only offered 1 time per week and I am struggling trying to keep up with it and the other 3 classes I am taking. You know your limits...I personally would take it when there is more time during a full length semester (more than one time per week)
  2. Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
  3. Hi. Congrats on the TEAS score. The prerequisite courses are required and from what I understand you can't get into a program until they are completed. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I would apply when the prerequisites are closer to being completed.
  4. I agree with this whole heartedly. Your family may be upset but will truly respect you by following your dreams in the long run. You will be able to attend school by grants, scholarships and loans. Go for it!
  5. Hi hun....welcome to AN! I appreciate your wanting to make a difference, that is commendable. However; it concerns me that your CONS are exactly apart of nursing duties. You will look at wounds and care for injuries (that is what nurses are about). You definitely have to have a heart for this field of work and working with needles is again, apart of the job. If thinking about it makes you faint, then I would definitely reconsider. The members all had excellent points! Good luck to you!
  6. I definitely had to learn and all the posts before me are right. Everything we do is tracked now a days. I for one don't want to be found! I need a place to vent freely! ?
  7. wow I am sorry to hear that! Keep at it! Someone WILL say yes!
  8. I am currently taking A&P 1 w/Lab and College Math ( I need Algebra) as my pre-reqs. But I am also taking some course classes also: My humanities elective-Music Appreciation and Human Growth and Development for a total of 13hrs. I can't tell you how much I study because I study ALL the time! LOL
  9. I want to first say congratulations on wanting to enter into a profession where its not about you. Becoming a nurse is all about other people. And once you understand that, you will do fine. None of us can tell you if the ER would suit you. Only you would know know that. As you go through the program and start clinicals that may change. Unless people in Sarasota, FL don't ever get sick and the doctors and hospitals are closing then the outlook for nurses is pretty darned good. For someone to say RNs are ass-wipers clearly doesn't understand what it is RNs REALLY do. It is so much more than that. I am not a nurse but my BFF is and everyday is a new adventure. No 2 days are the same and the days are very unpredictable (especially in the ER). Maybe some of the other students and nurses can shed more light. Best of luck to you!
  10. I just getting started. So I need the support and possibly offer a little of my own. The name reminds me to stay focused. Thanks!
  11. I too would be interested.
  12. Thank you. I surely appreciate the advice.
  13. Yes this helps. Thank you!
  14. Thank you Ecl09! I am trying so hard, but when your spouse is being an "orifice" for lack of better words, its hard!
  15. LOL...bring it on! LOL...
  16. Initially when I decided I wanted to pursue a career in nursing my family (husband and sons) were ecstatic! I was finally about to embark upon a career that was totally fulfilling and I felt I would be living in my purpose. All through the registration period and even when I picked up my books, everyone was excited. Even my 77 year old grandmother was excited! School started in January and 13 credit hours begin. At this point I made a serious attempt to try to find a balance, but my husband stated, "don't worry about it, you just study" Fast forward to today....NOW. My mom is even on board, my brothers fully support my decision. We live in Mississippi so the closest family is more than 2 hours away. I have a son about to graduate High School in May, who plays varsity basketball, works a job and takes college classes on Saturday and 2 more sons (ages 13 and 9) who are athletically involved. They all understand "mommy won't always be there" because she is trying to work really hard to become a nurse. I have to give it to them though, my boys are a tremendous help. The oldest one even runs errands for me (those that he can when he isn't at school) while I study. My husband however; has dropped the ball tremendously. He lags behind in EVERYTHING. He doesn't even volunteer to take the kids where they need to go anymore when it was established in the beginning that this was the plan. I break the rhythm in studying to handle things and when I do, he gets upset after he CLEARLY makes it known that he really doesn't want to. Keep this in mind I FULLY supported him in college (19 years ago) and the CE even today! When I dedicate myself to something, I ALWAYS have to stop because of him. I don't understand! I realize I may not be able to attend full-time in the remaining semester because I have no support. How can I take care of my kids, balance their activities and go to school with a full-time course load so I can finish in May?!
  17. Cool I know where Pontotoc is! We are in Saltillo. Glad to know I'm not alone!
  18. So I'm not the only one! Cool! Nice to meet you!
  19. I've searched the boards and it looks as if I am the only one attending Itawamba Community College here in Mississippi. I see past grads and student posts but not any recent. Are there any more of us here from North MS?
  20. Same here! I am applying for then also.... Well I actually did already for fall 2014. Good luck to everyone!
  21. Its fine with me I am not opposed to stroller bags! Lol. Thanks!
  22. So because of the weight of my books I need another backpack. The bookstore has some for $60. What is a reasonable price for a backpack?
  23. I don't think anyone will. I never received an email either but downloaded the documents to my phone. There is a thread about email addresses being posted that I didn't see until AFTER I asked about the list.
  24. So glad I didnt buy it! I use the free one!
