  1. Yup! Graduated in December! Um every college has its ups and downs...With Neumann, you just gotta go with the flow... Some of the classes are pretty intense. You have to study ! Be able to put aside other stuff in your life for this program. Most of the teachers are great with one or two exceptions. In the end it did its job.. Passed boards 1st time then its on to real learning on the floor.
  2. Sent you a PM, I felt bad taken over the thread....
  3. LCDR Dan- I would love to! Thank you so much for the invite...I'm currently on break from school, so I could pretty much come down whenever....I really want to see how Navy Nursing works before I make that final decision. I think being able to see the good with the difficult aspects will really help. Let me know when would be a good time for you, thank you so much for this opportunity!!!!!
  4. LCDR Dan- Thanks for the offer! I may take you up on it!!! I met with my recruiter today and he said that I could plan to visit to see how Navy nursing works at Bethesda and even another trip in July to a different base. I'm a little upset that I can't to the Nursing school program because I'm in a part time (second degree) program but I'll just start my packet now and hopefully find out by the time I graduate. How do the tours of the bases work? Thanks !!!
  5. Good morning everyone! Happy Mothers Day to all the moms!!! I'm going to visit my recuiter this week for the 1st time and I was wondering what to expect?
  6. Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank everyone, these forums have been more than helpful. I just had a couple of questions about becoming a Navy nurse. I've just got in contact with a recruiter so I'm still in the "undecided" phase. I was hoping to find out as much info as possible before I make any decisions. 1) How are the living arrangements for single nurses? Do we get our own apartments or is it more like dorm living? 2) Do we get a selection of what field we can practice? I would not be able to stand being a mental health nurse(no offense!) but are they just going to put you anywhere? 3) How are deployments handled? I know that they try to give new nurses a year to learn but when you do get deployed are you working with the Marines and Army at there hospitals on the ground? 4) I'm set to graduate with my BSN in Dec. I know that there is program to help you out in nursing school but would they still take me in with only several months left of school or should I just wait until after I graduate and take my NCLEX and then start the process. Sorry for all the questions! It's just a lot is going through my mind and if I start to make the process I want to be as informed as possible. Thanks!!!! Laura:bugeyes:
  7. i've had um all, thick , thin and large folder size....i always used to judge but now they make it too hard...lol
  8. Well after much deliberation i have decided to go to neumann college...I start on wednesday...anyone have any adivise or words of wisdom for a new neumann nursing student?:yelclap:
  9. Definately go laptop, I've had both and trust me a desktop is not the way to go. Its huge a bulky and you cant bring it places to study. However, make sure u do ur research before you buy. That way u know what u want. It also depends what u want to use the computer for? Since i've bought my laptop i would have to say i def prefer it. Good luck, oh i have a toshiba...its been great to me...lol
  10. Hey dont worry about ur ba/bs gpa. i know they look at it but they are more concerned with how u do in ur sciene or pre req classes... I had a not so good gpa from my bs but in all my pre reqs i got a's. Had no prob getting into any schools at all . in fact I got into all i applied!!!!Anyway just keep up the good work. It shows u are willing to try hard...good luck..
  11. Hey, I hear ya with the Drexel price, i may do their bsn co-op but since i already have a deg it would only take 3 years..But thats like 75 grand its insane. Even though its a great school I may have to go elsewhere. I mean my rents alredy paid for my first deg. I cant expect them to help me out that much...Anyway i'm from philly, if your looking for cheaper schools...try temple, west chester, although depends if ur instate or not. ccp ive heard okay things about but that would get u an associates i'm not sure what u are goin for? Holy family, gwynedd mercy, even rutgers.. anyway good luck with the search....hope this helps
  12. It's definately doable. This past summer I took ant/phy and micro all in one summer. I did fine. Just make sure you have enough time to study. And that you set aside atleast an hour a day to study or more. Phys i found alittle easier then ant. just cause it was more understanding then memorization. Micro was aight. I didnt really like the material but my teacher was really good. Anyway if you think you can do it then go for it..It will be a huge relief after your done with them...I know it was a huge weight of my shoulders...lol
  13. hey guys maybe drexel co-op student here. got in just waiting to decide b/w schools. I already have a bs in another field but heard the ace was crazy hard so deciede to take the longer path.. Anyway I'm from philly born and raised if u want to know anything about the city let me know i'll hook ya up.as for living you may wanna try manyunk area, relatively cheap, train ride to center city and there are plenty of people lookin for roomates in the area.. try craigslist. anyway if you have any ?'s let me know...congrats on drexel...
  14. hey guys thanks for all the advise i do feel that pass rates do not define the student, i'm motivated so i know i will strive to do well, oh i got into yet another school, Gwynedd Mercy coll in pa, man this is def gonna be a tough decision...
  15. Hey guys I was wondering if anyone new anything about the programs either at Neumann, DRExel, Eastern I've been accepted into DRexel and Neumann, but waiting to hear from Eastern. If anyone has heard anything about them i would love to hear thanks....
  16. oopps found the pass rates...Drexel=98.8% 1st time Neumann 84% damn drexel's good...lol oh this sucks...lol
  17. Thanks guys for your input, I think in the end it will come down to cost...cause face it no one wants to owe money the rest of their life. It just sucks cause i would love to go to Drexel. I guess i'll have to wait and see what finaicial aid has to say..lol.. Oh, how do you find out nclex pass rates itried a search but only came up with certian school? thanks guys...:biere:
  18. Hey well, i've been accepted into 2 of 4 nursing schools so far and I dont know what to do...the 2 that i've been accepted into start in January...Neumann and Drexel in Pa, I'm still waiting to hear from gynedd mercy and eastern u. I wont find out about them until feb when i've already supposed to have started at the other two. My question is what do i do? every program has is ups and downs but how do you pick. Drexel has a great rep but i got into the co-op program which will take 3 years and drexel is not cheap, Neumann will take 2.5 years but it's part time evening, less expensive and i can work the same time, Eastern is 2 year bsn2 program but it is like 30 min away and i dont even know if i will get in. Why arent all schools start dates the same!!!!!!!Is anyone else in the same situation? I am very happy to have even beenaccepted into these 2 great programs but how am i supposed to make a choice...Help me!!!!!

Well, i'm from philly, are you looking to get your BSN? if so have a look at gynedd mercy, temple, drexel, west chester, neumann, eastern, i know some may have waiting lists but during that time you can always take classes at a community college..it is def cheaper. pm me if you have anymore questions..i've been researchin philly schools for some time now..lol
  22. Well after many months of waiting...I'm in Drexel BSN co-op program..Starting Jan third!!! i almost started cryin today when i got the letter...Its nice to know your hard work pays off!!!!!
  23. Well, I dont have much experience but I did go on one interview.. Basically they wanted to know why I wanted to be a nurse, what drove me, what were my goals and how the school would help to aquire those goals. They were pretty cool i was alittle nervous but they were very friendly. Make sure you practice what your gonna say so you dont come out all babbling. Make sure you relax and dress nice...1st impressions are always key...Anyway hope this helps good luck with the interview. Dont be nervous. I'm sure you'll do fine...good luck....:)
  24. Good post...Thanks for lookin out... I actually applied to Eastern university...in pa. They have a BSN 2 program for students who already have a bs/ba. This would be the second class of bsn2 students. I know they were very excited about it very nice campus..I find out in feb. Too bad the other school i got accepted into starts in Jan..hmmm decisions decisions...lol
  25. If you didnt smoke then you wont have a problem...and not to sound rude or anything but maybe you should consider the friends you keep. I mean your goin to nursing school...bottom line if you dont wanna run the risk then don't hang out with people that do....
