  1. The readiness portion consists of 4 sections, math, english, an essay and a questionnaire. I think you're allowed to take up to 2 hours on each section, but for most people, you only need 2 to 2 1/2 hours total. (And just so you know, you don't complete the readiness assessment when you fill out the application, your enrollment counselor will send you a link for that after your application is received.) The math and english aren't too bad, and for the essay they mainly want to see if you can put sentences together coherently. The questionnaire is to see if online and self motivated learning is a good fit for you. As far as previous degrees, for Statistics to count it has to be within the past 5 years, other than that, they're pretty good about taking past courses. I have an AS in Nursing and an AA from 13 years ago and they covered all of the non-nursing classs except for Statistics, Biochemistry (I had only taken Chem I and II, not Biochem) and Nutrition which they include in the core classes. I was trying to decide between the RN-BSN and RN-MSN also, but I've decided on the MSN track, I start March 1st. You do get your BSN along the way, so I figured if I want to stop after that I can, but if I want to continue I've saved myself a few classes. So far everyone I've dealt with from my enrollment counselor, financial aid, IT and the Bursar's office have been super helpful. Best of luck to you!
  2. Thank you for your answer. Yay for no group projects :) And regarding Facebook, I hear ya. I hadn't been a member before learning of the WGU group, and so far it's the only thing I've used my account for. I do like the group quite a bit though, especially for online school, it's nice to have a set place to talk to your classmates, be able to vent, and get encouragement. I'll call ULL today, see if I can get this application started!
  3. I'm currently trying to decide between ULL and WGU for my RN to BSN. I just had a few questions about ULL for current or past students. First, are there any group projects? I've seen in previous posts there are DQ's and responses required, those are fine, but I'm hoping to stay away from group projects. Second, one of the things I've really liked about WGU is the RN to BSN and RN to MSN students have a very active Facebook group, where they help and encourage each other. I was wondering if ULL had anything similar either on Facebook or in a student community. Thanks in advance!
  4. Oh no PatMac10RN, I didn't think you were saying there was anything wrong with RN to BSN, I had just never thought about all the overlap that a RN to MSN cuts out, especially as someone who wants to get at Master's at some point. Thanks for pointing that out.
  5. Well now PMFB-RN and PatMac10,RN are making me rethink starting my RN to BSN and do straight for the RN to MSN. Decisions!
  6. Will be following as I'm in the same boat, supposed to be starting RN to BSN either Feb 1st or March 1st, and now reconsidering RN to MSN.
  7. I attended SPC and loved it. Heard pretty good things about HCC as well.
  8. That was fast! I talk to my enrollment counselor on Tuesday, hopefully it'll be done by then. Nathan, when will you be starting the program?
  9. I'm hoping to start February 1st, just waiting now on a transcript eval. Does anyone know how long that normally takes? They received them last Monday, but with the holiday last week and this week, I'm assuming it will take a bit longer than normal.
  10. featherzRN, I have to admit I've read some of your other posts on WGU, they've been a big part of my decision to pursue their program! I'm hoping to achieve what you did and get the program done in six months, but if that doesn't work, twelve months and $7000 is still better than most programs time and money wise. That's very encouraging to hear that the MSN programs you've applied to haven't had an issue with the WGU degree, have you decided which one you're going with?
  11. SunshineDaisy, I personally am working as an RN, not sure about the OP. That's a good point you make, and definitely a possible con for those who haven't starting working in that capacity. That's great that GCU is working so well for you, a few nurses on my unit have gone there or are currently in their program, and they're also very satisfied. If for some reason WGU doesn't work out, GCU will most likely be my second choice.
  12. Interesting, it's definitely listed under "Online Nursing Programs". I'm curious also to know if this is correct....
  13. Got your message mso819, tried to message you back, but I'm relatively new here and not sure if I can send pm's yet. Best of luck in the school you decide on!
  14. Did you ever decide which school to go with? I can't speak from experience since I'm in the same position, trying to pick somewhere to go for my RN to BSN. I was looking at GCU, WGU and ASU. I've pretty much settled on WGU for a few reasons, the cost, ability to accelerate program, and no DQ/posts or group projects required. Name recognition isn't much of a con for me, one of the administrators at my hospital is getting her MSN from there. From what I've heard from others, as long as the school is accredited and you have a BSN, name recognition for the college isn't a big deal when searching for jobs. The main disadvantage I've found is that it's pass or fail, your gpa will be reflected as 3.0, which might not be high enough for competitive MSN programs. At this point though, I'm not sure I will be going for a MSN and if I do, I know there are MSN programs that will accept a BSN from WGU, they just might not be my top choices. For me, WGU's pros exceed the cons. I'm just waiting till they evaluate my transcripts, once I know how many extra classes I have to take, I'll decide for sure. Hope your decision making process is going well!
  15. Worked for me also, thanks so much for posting! I'm applying to the RN to BSN program, what program are you all applying for?
