  1. My start date is February 1st, 2014. I will have approximately 35 credits to complete. Hope to finish in 12 months or less.
  2. Once they received all my transcripts, I received my eval in less than 48 hours.
  3. Yes, I have had a couple calls with my enrollment counselor. If you haven't already, call the admissions office and ask to be scheduled a call with an enrollment counselor. You have to do this anyways, so it will save you a step. The call answered most of my questions.
  4. Glad it could help! I am also applying to the Rn-bsn program. Good luck!
  5. Hello everyone, I just got off the phone with WGU's enrollment office. I was told that during the month of December 2013, WGU is waiving application fees for the holidays! The code I was given is: DEC13 Put this in at the end to waive the fee! Hopefully all of you are able to pay this forward!
  6. Acceptance letters come out in first two weeks of november...starting tomorrow possibly! I'm so anxious! I hope everyone on here gets in! Post when you get your acceptance or find out if you got in! Good luck everyone!
  7. Hi, I'm thinking about going to Kamanga to get my CNA license, and I was wondering: Are all the clinicals included in the class times the schedule lays out? I.E. the program I want is weekends 2-10pm for 5 weeks. Are all the clinicals and everything included in those 16 hrs a week, because I have a full time job and am hoping I can just request weekends off. Thank you in advance for your help!
  8. Wow! This was a very helpful and detailed answer! I appreciate all the good points. Due to the answers I have read on here, I will not take out the loans. I will just work part time and squeeze my way througj. Thanks everyone!
  9. January 2011 hopeful, for Tacoma Community College in WA. ADN RN program, we hear first two weeks of november! I'm on pins and needles!
  10. I feel your pain! The program I'm applying to doesn't even go by merit, they do a lottery selection system - think of how stressed I am right now. I am quite nearly ripping my hair out!
  11. Yes, I would be moving to part time at my existing full time job
  12. Thanks, that's pretty much what I expected to hear. I really appreciate the advice of someone who has already been through it all!
  13. Here's my story: I have completed all the nursing pre-reqs, and am (hopefully) awaiting entrance to nursing school beginning early January 2011. I have been working full time and saving up money, and I am nearing the point where I have enough saved to pay tuition out of pocket for the next two years. However, I know that there are many other expenses (books, fees, car insurance, gas, medical insurance, etc) so I know that this money will not cover all of it. I am still living at home with my parents to keep expenses low. There is a good chance that I will work part time during the course of nursing school. My question is this: I have heard that most hospitals will forgive loans of new graduates if you agree to work for them for a specified period of time - and if the hospitals agree to pay them off, wouldn't it be financially smart to max out the loans? (Since they would, in effect, be free money that I don't have to pay back.) Is there any reason not to have loans? (For example, can you get sign on bonuses that you wouldn't get otherwise, or raises or something of that nature?) I already talked to my financial aid office at my school, and they said I don't qualify for grants, only loans. If I did take out loans, they would most likely only be in the $5,000-7,000 range. Would it be financially sound to take out these federal loans that I may or may not need, or to just try and scrape by on a part time job completely debt-free? Thank you for reading my post, and I look forward to hearing everyone's responses!
  14. I hope it is worth applying. I talked to the nursing advisor. For 24 full time spots every qtr they have 200 applications in the fall, 90-100 in the winter, and 75 for full time/20 for part time in the spring. No they do not give preferential treatment for repeat applicants. And you can only turn in one app per term. This means that you will likely eventually get in, but it is possible to apply every quarter for years and never get in!
  15. Great! Thank you so much for your help I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it! Best of luck to you in the remaining quarters of the program and I hope to see you there! Until then, Nathan
