  1. Hello! PNP looking to enroll in a FNP Post Master's Certificate. UMass Boston has a 12 credit program that I would like to enroll in, but they do not accept Louisiana students. Does anyone know any programs similar to this setup that take Louisiana students?
  2. Looks like interviews will be held via zoom this cycle. Anyone hear anything?
  3. The deadline is July 1st. I don’t believe they start notifying till after that.
  4. I am waiting to speak with 2 more references, before I send anything to their emails. Can you tell me what the personal statement writing requirements are? I don't believe I can access that page until I submit references.
  5. I was going to wait another year, but with them waiving the GRE for this cycle, I am considering applying now.
  6. Our hospital is so slow, they are asking for us to take voluntary time off.
  7. Did anyone on here apply to USM as well? Do you remember how their process for letters of recommendations worked? Were they to mailed in? Submitted online?
  8. I work in PICU, we have scales in each room.
  9. I’m starting out as a new grad in the PICU, and would like some advice/tips on how to draw up drips in an emergency situation
  10. I can not find a direct answer to this question. On a postpartum unit, is a nurse allowed to delegate to the UAP to get mom out of bed for the first time?? Also, if a patient has been having abnormal vital signs, is the CNA allowed to keep take them, or does the nurse have to?
  11. I love my Alegria shoes!
  12. Don't give up, just like you has to learn how to take care of adults on your Medical unit. You have to learn to take care of kids in the PICU. Nurses have done it before you, so it can be done. I would talk with the nurse manager about possibly paring you with another preceptor. Your preceptor attitude can make a world of difference in your experience. Good luck, keep the faith, you will be a fantastic PICU nurse!
  13. The CRNA schools I'm applying to do not require Organic Chemistry for admission to the program, however I am wondering should I still take it?? I don't want to risk getting a bad grade, and bringing my GPA down, when I didn't have to take it in the 1st place. -Will taking organic chemistry give me more "brownie points" when applying? -Those who are currently in CRNA school, would you recommend it?' Thanks!!
  14. I keep a can of Lysol outside in the garage next to my car. When I get out of the car after work, I spray it down.
  15. Baton Rouge, Louisiana
  16. Our floor has CNAs and Nurse techs. The CNAs take vitals, give baths, and assist when neeeded.
  17. dreamerachiever posted a topic in NICU, Neonatal
We are building a free standing children's hospital in our city. One of the units will be a NICU. This will be the first hospital in our area that contains a NICU, but no "labor and delivery area." It is to my understanding that NICU babies normally don't take infants "off the street," or that have left the hosital. Do do any of you work in a NICUs like this? How does it work? Also, for those of you that work in hospitals that have both a NICU (no L&D) and PICU? What determines which unit an infant will go to?
  18. Thanks everyone for you answers! This is for an upcoming dosage exam.
  19. Oh wait, that still gives us 1545 instead of 1535í ¾í´¦*♀️
  20. You are so smart!! I believe you have figured it out. There are a couple of other problems where I got something different from the answer key, but after going back and subtracting the vomit from the total intake, I got the right answer!! Thank you!!!
  21. Whoops, I got 1795 by counting the Ceftriaxone three times instead of once.
  22. Ouput answer: 1400 mL
  23. Need some help with intake and output problem! -The patient is receiving an iv of d5w infusing at 100 ml/hr at the start of the shift (0700). He gets an IVPB of Pecid 20 mg in 50 ml NS Q 8H. For breakfast the patient took 4 oz of apple juice and 6 oz chicken broth. At 1000 the patient drank 1 cup of water. For lunch the patient took 1 glass of milk and 1 Tbsp of jello. The patient has an indwelling foley catheter. The CNA emptied 1250 ml of urine from foley catheter. The patient vomited 150 ml at 1500. Calculate the patient's Intake and Output at 0700 and ending at 1500. **I'm getting 1795 mL for intake; the answer key has 1535 mL
