  1. That is really a tough question. If you love nursing and are looking for an in any way you can get one then go for it. I would always suggest starting as an RN if possible. I am currently and LPN, itching to be a RN. It is very hard to find schools that will bridge online for BSN and RN. Good Luck whatever your decision.
  2. Go to the BON website and there is a place where you can check the status of you license. When I was waiting for mine I was actually missing something so even though I passed it took a min to get my license. https://secure.sos.state.ga.us/plb_appstatus/ this an example of what the page may look like
  3. Of course racism is an issue but so is religious prejudice. I had a patient deliberately lie on me because he was willing to put my reputation in harm rather than be honest about his issues with me being a Muslim woman. He said I was rude to him for no reason. I got out of my way to make my patients and family members feel at ease. I love what I do. Most of us health care workers get in this profession because we generally care about the wellbeing of our fellow man so my message to current and future patients is see through the veil and acknowledge I am here for you, to help care for you and get you well. If you can't I have no problem stepping aside and letting someone else do the job for you. Your loss!
  4. Me close to Athens Ga
  5. Man I know how you feel. Its so frustrating not to be good at what you love right away. I'm newly graduated as well and I just want to be one of the best.
  6. Look for rural hospitals in your area they sometimes employ LPNs on their med/surg floor
  7. A little sad that it was not much more than my previous salaried office job, however I am still happy with the career change. I look forward to all the possibilities though.
  8. What kind of degree program is this, LPN to BSN?
  9. Congrats...following behind you soon I hope and pray.
  10. I'm in GA fresh out of school this month. 14.30\hr. not pleased by the pay but I figured heck let me get some experience and money to get my life back under control after this past year of school. Work for community health care center
  11. I have never been a person to sit around and do nothing. When I first arrived I introduced myself with no response in kind. I followed the nurse even when she would attempt to shut the door on me. At the facilities request we have been asked to come later in the day for l&d so the instructor had already gone for the day. I absolutely do not use my phone in clinical so there is no way to keep up with teachers at the time.
  12. To all the currently liscensed nurses who have been on the job "forever", one day you will come across a student who someday wants to be where you are. It would be nice if you took that into consideration and treated them like a human being. A guest in your house who just wants to feel welcome. Believe me we are quite aware that we have some learning to do and that is what clinicals are for. If you block out your future coworkers where is that getting you? Today has topped all of my clinical experiences as the worst. I am a student in a small southern town. My heritage is African American and my religion is Islam, yes I am a muslim. I felt like it was the 1960s I was ignored for an entire day and cheated out of my clinical experience. It was hurtful and shocking that in all this time many of us have gone no where when it comes to progessing while working in one of the most of the most progressive fields. I will not let prejudice stop me it will only help to motivate me.
