How to drop subtle hints with my nursing students about faith.
I once had a professor tell me I was only allowed to drink water in her class because she hated carbonated drinks. She would only let us have water and green tea. That is called forcing someone's beliefs on another person. VOICING your beliefs TO another person is not forcing them on someone. The prior is wrong and inappropriate, the latter is not.

How to drop subtle hints with my nursing students about faith.
And it's not wrong to kick someone out of their teaching position for they're sexual preference or world view? But it's right to kick them out and cost them their livelihood for their religious affiliation. Explain that logic to me, please. It makes no sense to me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if its not your own. You want your opinion to not be offended, but what about me being offended by your opinion? It's a two-way street.

How to drop subtle hints with my nursing students about faith.
I am a Christian, and a student. I think that just like the students see Christ in you, you'll see it in them (hopefully) and you'll be able to make the best judgment about how to respond to your students with love even if you don't say the word "Jesus". The fruit of the spirit will show through you. I know there are many times as a student where I wished I could go to a Christian school where I knew that my professors were praying for me. Even for students who may not believe in a god, it could still be comforting. You have to remember that most people believe in "god", it just may not be your God.

Prevalence of Christians in the field of nursing
Your beliefs still affect your actions even if you aren't imposing them upon other people.
- How old were you when you started nursing school?

Who is applying to UAH and/or Calhoun Community Collge Nursing schools Spring 2014
Anyone have any idea what supplies we'll need to buy for school? I'd seen stethoscopes and pen lights in the bookstore at Calhoun, so I assume those will be required. I've heard that the brand the school supplies is not so fantastic though. There were also some white watches... so I'm guessing maybe its a requirement for them to be white if we have them?

Yes! I almost cried, staring at the mailbox, because I knew of friends receiving packets and I had a lone little envelope. I was so relieved once I read it!!

Has anyone else contacted/ heard from Calhoun about when their acceptance letters would be sent out? I feel as if they are taking forever, but I didn't want to be waiting around anxiously for them if they weren't going to be sent out until much later Please let me know if you get yours or know when you might get it!

UAH and Calhoun Community College acceptance
I know that Calhoun's rejection letter is, in fact, a letter.... and I know this because I received one. Haha... I don't know if the acceptance letter is a packet or not though. Might be nice to know! I wish Calhoun didn't take so dang long to get it all sorted out

Who is applying to UAH and/or Calhoun Community Collge Nursing schools Spring 2014
I applied (for the second round) at Calhoun for the spring! I'm hoping I get in this time. I found out upon applying that I obviously can't use my new grade for a class I'm retaking this semester on my application, so I'm hoping that doesn't affect me too much! For the fall, I know the points requirement was 131 because I had 129 points - SO CLOSE! I hope this spring it'll stay close to that 131, because that's exactly how many points I have. Also, does anyone know anything about how they work out your class schedule? I was told that if you apply in the fall, you can work through the summer, but if you apply in the spring they won't let you take summer classes. Apparently you have to sit out through the summer. I hope that isn't true because I really want to finish as soon as possible

Updating Your TEAS Test Score
Hello all! I have a question... Has anyone taken the TEAS test, only to make a very poor grade, then taken it again to make a fabulous grade and needed to update your score to your application? How did you go about it. I'm hoping to get on some sort of list for "next in line" to the program with my updated score because it was so good, but I have the feeling that at this point, it would be pointless.... The first time I took the test was very stressful. The test itself kept bumbing me out, the tornado alarm went off across the street from the building I was in, there was this crazy lady sitting beside me mouthing off to the testing proctor, and to top it all off, IT decided they would do "maintnence" in the middle of my worst subject and shut down every single computer in the room to do updates..... STRESSFUL!! Now that I went from a 59 to a 70 on my test, I'm really wishing I could get into the fall program because I met the required points! If anyone has had similar experience, please let me know how you got it all worked out.

Anyone applying for Calhoun Community College's Nursing program for Fall 2013?
So, assuming that some students who got accepted choose to go to another program, would they then let the people right at the cutoff take their place? How does that work?
-
Anyone applying for Calhoun Community College's Nursing program for Fall 2013?
I made my mom open it at home (I'm at work) and she said the cut-off was 131? So I'm assuming she read it correctly. I applied for full time ADN.

Yeah, this loser forgot her SPACE password and is too lazy to deal with IT to reset it... but I'd heard that too.

Anyone applying for Calhoun Community College's Nursing program for Fall 2013?
Well, nothing today either.. if it was going to come it would have by now. I make someone at home check for me every day since I'm at work. It's pathetic. Has anyone called to find out if they've sent them out or when they will by any chance?

Anatomy and Physiology
Amen! I was homeschooled and I'm proud of it! You have been given many wonderful opportunities and are blessed to have the ability to do something many people don't have the freedom to do.

Anatomy and Physiology
Here's one, but if you go to purposegames.com and type, for instance "thoracic bones" (thoracic bones) or "skull bones" ( Skull Bones Side), etc into the search bar you can because some of the quizzes, like this one, aren't very specific. Here's an example anyway. Bones of the Body

Not Accepted to Nursing School! :(... Alternative!
From my experience, advisors are terrible for the most part... so if there is a teacher you know who is "in the know" at the school you would want to attend you will probably have much more luck talking to them. As far as the whole getting accepted thing.. supposedly the health care changes are going to require all RNs to eventually have BSNs.. soooo, you are probably saving yourself time and money if you go ahead and try finishing everything before getting into the program anyway. If I don't get into the program this fall, I'm probably just going to start taking classes to go towards my BSN.

Evil Stepmother vs. Fairy Godmother (Teachers)
I have had my fair share of horrible teachers. I've also had my fair share of WONDERFUL teachers who's investment in my education will have an impact on my life forever. *Evil teacher number 1: "Your questions are stupid and it's not my job to answer them. Go read your book." - Uhhhhhhh... maybe I've just been trippin' for like the past two decades (my whole life), but isn't it the teacher's job to answer our questions?! *Evil teacher number 2: "I don't understand why the class started out with 38 students and you 5 are the only ones left. Are students really that stupid these days?" Yeah, she really said that. To the class. - Once again, a teaching issue. When you start out a class with 30+ students and end up with a handful, maybe you should consider that it's not them - it's you. Just saying... *Awesome teacher number 1: "Dear students, you are the few who passed the first exam with an A! I am so proud of all of you, as I've had you for multiple classes and have developed a little soft spot in my heart for all you hard workers! You guys are awesome." -This lady... is the bomb.com. If you need to know of a good A&P teacher at Calhoun Community College, AL - let me know. I'll give you her digits. We're tight. *Awesome teacher number 2: Ok... let me explain the story first. My bio 103 teacher was a cool guy. Kind of a nerd.. with his nerd/biology humor that no one laughed at but me and my few aquaintances, but still a cool guy! So when I found a giant "Niel Young" spider in my garage (look it up.. that's the actual name. They're big. They rear up and jump, and they're scary as all get out.) I knew that he would appreciate it! So I brought it to class in a mason jar to the shock of the rest of my class, and have it to him as a gift. He still has it as a pet - I bet his wife was thrilled ;D Anywho... said awesome teacher #2 told said evil teacher #1 that I was his favorite student with me standing right there to which she huffed and rolled her eyes because she hated me. Which is also awesome cause #2 happens to be the dean of something........ *win* Share your stories about good/bad teachers!

Calhoun Community College Fall 2013
Unmarried, no kids, two jobs both part-time as of now... however once I start school back I hear its near impossible to keep a job, even if you have one that works with your hours. Anyone else hear that? Anyway, I'm currently (or last semester I was) a "sophmore" at CC and want to work in NICU, mother/baby, or OB/GYN (ehh, maybe not). And then use my RN skills to go on medical missions!
