Roane State nursing 2016 applicants anyone??
Yes, you should be able to tell them you changed your mind. I'm sure many other students are in the same boat as you with waiting. Good luck!

Roane State nursing 2016 applicants anyone??
I think there were about 10 men in the program when it originally started. It's about half now. When you register for classes you have the choice to sign up for which campus you'd like but it's also based on how many spaces are available so make sure you register as soon as it opens. They try to assign you to clinical based on what area you live in. The scrubs are maroon. They'll give you a syllabus with test dates, etc. & other info at orientation before each semester starts so you can be better prepared.

Roane State nursing 2016 applicants anyone??
Hi! I'm finishing up the last semester of the nursing program. Hallelujah! I believe we started with under 100 students in our program and have lost several along the way. Yes, it's a tough program and you really have to study, study, study....but it's a great program & I'm glad I chose RS to complete my nursing degree. I've been on the Knoxville campus and the instructors have been very supportive and helpful. It's tough for a reason & you'll be a better nurse from being in this program. I've been able to still work part-time while in school although it hasn't been easy. It's definitely a huge commitment that you have to stick to & stay motivated but it's doable. As far as getting in, those in my class had varying grades for pre-reqs and some were still finishing up pre-reqs so it probably depends on who you are up against, the other applicants. I made sure I had all of my pre-reqs done & A's in all classes just so I didn't take any chances. I know others who didn't though and were still accepted. Yes, Pellissippi is a good backup to apply to just in case. Good luck to all of you!

Lincoln Memorial University
I took my pre-reqs at Roane State and had a great experience. I applied to their nursing program in January after hearing many great things firsthand from nurses who graduated from there. I won't start until Fall though so I can't give you any direct feedback. I have not heard any feedback about LMU. Are other students experiencing the same struggles? I would recommend meeting with your teacher or advisor to see if they can offer any advice before making any transfer decisions. Hang in there, I hope things ease up for you soon. Good luck.

A&P & Microbio at the same time...omg
I took both last Fall while working full time and was able to get A's although it was very tough. However, I'm glad I stuck through it and finished them. I literally spent almost all of my free time studying and had to try different studying styles for my AP lecture because it was the class I had the toughest time with. If you are struggling, I would suggest talking to your professors to see if you still have time to bring up your grades and any studying suggestions they might have. I also spoke with other students who did well and asked them what study modes they used. Best of luck to you. :-)

Who else is waiting for Fall 2014 acceptance?
I applied last month & won't find out until April/May. The waiting game is tough!

Post your Fall 2013 grades!
AP II - A (lab & lecture) Micro - A (lab & lecture) I had no life for a semester & it was not easy with working full time, but hard work does pay off ?. Congrats to everyone!

Testing anxiety
I have the same issue with pre-test anxiety. I try to take 30-60 minutes before the test to just relax and not think about the test. I've found that going over my notes right before the test makes me start to over think everything and get confused about what I already know, so I try not to review right before the test. Plenty of deep breaths help too! ☺

How do you stay motivated..??
I have a bathroom mirror and fridge covered with motivational sign and pics that I can see every day. It really helps me. Pinterest has tons of motivational quotes you can print & cut out to put in places you'll see them often. Mini breaks between hours of studying is a must. Exercise helps release a lot of stress too. I also have a mini trip planned after the semester w/my family to celebrate my hard work. You definitely have to reward yourself along the way to stay motivated, even if its with small things.

A&P II with Micro...has anyone done it??
Yes, it's very possible! I'm taking both classes this semester while working full time. I only need to complete these last 2 courses for my pre-reqs and was hesitant to take both but its worked out well so far. A&P II has actually been easier than A&PI for me and Micro isn't too bad as long as you're committed to studying a lot. About 90% of my free time is spent studying but I keep reminding myself that it will pay off in the end. Best of luck to you!

A & P flashcards
Writing out my own flashcards helps me greatly too! I also re-word some of the terms so that I'lll understand them easier when reviewing. I bought the Netter's flashcards and haven't really used them. Most of my instructors so far have provided slides and images for us to use to learn for the tests so I memorized those instead of using alternate images.

4.0 Challenge!
A&P II with lab and Microbiology with lab, then I'll be done with pre-reqs. :-) I accept the challenge. Best of luck to everyone this semester!

When do your fall classes start?
Me too! A&P II and Microbiology this semester, then applying to the program.

Statistics online
I'm taking Stats right now in a classroom and think I would've struggled taking it online. Having our instructor walk us through the problems vs. reading the chapters on my own is much easier, at least for me. Although a good instructor makes a world of difference too! Best of luck to you either way. :-)
