  1. Check the definitions the NICHD guidelines have in place . The definitions are ver specific.
  2. It is called the medicalization of pregnant women. Women who are pregnant are treated as if there is a problem, not as healthy women. Pregnancy is thought of now as an abnormal state of being.
  3. I am interested in knowing when is the best time to start sending resumes to potential employers? Do you wait until boards are passed? I'm just getting a little ansy. Any insight into this would be helpful.
  4. Oh my gosh.... I cannot believe that....her provider should have offered her a d&c right them and there....what about 2 weeks!!! I have never heard of anything like that. Plus mom could develop infection if products not passed. How awful and sad
  5. Thank you. Life has been crazy for last 3 years...but worth it. I had 3 phone interviews...just be open and honest with your answers. They want to know what is in your heart and how u plan to succeed in the course
  6. I am I'm my very last class and I am so excited. Yes I agree malpractice is high....but if its in your heart it will keep nagging at you until you do it
  7. In my area of the world, there aren't any docs that will back the CNM.
  8. I have and am currently attending Frontier. Frontier does not pair you up with a preceptor, you have to find your own. Frontier is a distance learning program. There is a part time track and full time track. If you are married and have kids, i suggest the part time track. I have 2 kids, a disabled husband, and a full time job, and go to school. I have been in school a little over 3 years now. It has been hard, and due to recent events I have taken a leave of absence. I can tell you that the staff there is so supportive and will do anything they can to help you. IF you have more questions feel free to contact me.
  9. I agree that nurse A is responsible for the error.

I would so ignore your professer. Sounds like a real winner saying that. I have been in school for CNM for 1.5 years now... and work in L&D. I had a doc to tell me that as a midwife, I would be "of no use to him" Oh well, at least I know where he stands and what he thinks of midwives. Let it roll of your back and go with your plans.
  11. The answer lies within your heart. If it eats at you every day until you do something about it, you know you want to be a midwife. I too have had a love of labor and delivery and until I applied and was accepted into the program at Frontier, it was almost a burden for me. I constantly thought about it. So my advice is follow your heart, and it says you gotta do it...then that is your answer. Good luck.
  12. Congrats to you...now get ready for the ride of your life. I am a fellow student. Have been attending 1.5 years.
  13. When I went through the process, they contacted me.
  14. I can't speak for others, but I have been at Frontier for 1.5 years now, and distance learning is effective. I have learned and growed from the experience. It is tough though, and I think it has to be because it is distance learning.
  15. I too am a Frontier student and the forums are a big help. You will be assigned within a group at Bound and hopefully your group will click! I know the group I was in clicked and we offer support to each other. Even though you are not physically connected, you are just an e-mail away from support. :typing
