My class must be moving slow. We are just now covering metabolism. My class is extremely tired of cellular and chemistry info. They want to jump right into the good stuff. It's killing the class gpa for sure. What chapters are you on? I've seen skin and bones so far.

Got our grades back today. Professor prefaced with "these are the worst test scores I have ever seen." then he went around the room asking how much everyone studied. He saved me for last. I made the highest in the class with an 87.5 but after adding up all my bonus points I accrued I ended up with a 102.5. He didn't share that with the class but made a point over how much I studied compared to the rest. Only 4-5 more tests left with our next being next Thursday. Over the chemistry of cells, balancing equations and other cell type stuff. Plus a nutrition midterm. I'm glad I'm taking only 2 classes for sure.

I'm 29 as well. Just getting started.

I already have my bachelors. I've completed my masters coursework even. Now I'm changing paths to nursing. Both previous degrees were science degrees. I have a few classes to take like human growth and development, general psychology, pharmacology, and a&p 2 to take other than the 4 core nursing classes. If I do this, obtain my adn in nursing and pass the nclex; would I not be considered RN-bsn or would I need to do another type of study program? Would I have to bridge even though I have a bachelor degree already? The local college with the accelerated bsn program hasn't been helpful. Just pushy to come here and take xxxxxxxxx classes. The community college would be free thanks to my act score and I can continue to work until I became overwhelmed or needed to quit. The other program is day only, farther away and I would have to pay for everything thanks to my education status. No more state funds available to me. What would you do?

Yay. I'm on the other side of things. I would like to be a cna but have to get in nursing school and take the first semester class to become certified. Our red cross doesn't offer that class near me. What did you have to dI to become a cna?

35 minutes for me but the other options are 1.5 hours, 45 minutes and another at 1.5 hours. Only one with night and weekend program is the 35 minute one and closer so thats my cheapest option. I could do the accelerated bsn with the longer drive but it's strictly day classes and I would like to keep my job.

University of tn has a great accelerated and regular bsn program. I can say that the university of ms one doesn't look nearly as appealing.

I worked 23 hours a week during high school. Junior college and my final portion of senior college. The other part of senior college I was employed full time ( nearly two years). I also worked full time during my masters degree courses. Now I'm back again and only taking two classes but I'm working full time. Not much time left in a day either. Work 8 hours Monday through Friday and have a workout class for 1 hour on Monday and Tuesday's. Evenings I study and take quizzes. Night class on Thursday. Friday evening I try to relax or study. Then a stress relieving weekend of barrel racing. Long drive right now so less study time.

A full time student at Holmes community college is $975 per semester I believe. I'm not full time at the moment and only including school fees. Books averaging $400 per semester. Other than that our credit hour fee is similar to what was mentioned above.

After spending much time with the. This sounded slightly awkward to me. After spending a significant amount of time with them. That sounds better to me. I would read more but I'm on a study break. Good luck!

When looking for a place to stay please be careful! I don't know how long you haves lives in ms but the crime rate in Jackson has been rising steadily. I would suggest looking at locations a touch north such as Madison. Every time I have attended a horse show and stayed overnight at the fairgrounds someone has been robbed, a vehicle stolen and to top it off the last time a person was shot across the street when he interrupted someone breaking into his vehicle. Congratulations on the job interview though. I know there are safe locations in Jackson. I just don't know them all. Definitely ask around on interview day for more details.

I saw a commercial for them today and laughed. They were advertising their scholarship program. Amazing how proud of themselves they are.

I also agree with staying home. Just to point out a few small things. 1. You don't have to take time out to go grocery shopping. 2. You don't have to keep the entire house clean and stop to pay important bills. 3. Your parents cook dinner each night in a typical household. Just those things saves you hours each week to study. Minor chores like laundry or keeping your room and a few areas clean is a good trade off. 4. Typically you have extra amenities such as satellite or cable available when you do find free time. 5. Not dealing with a roommates schedule is a plus. They might have friend(s) over at odd hours. Be messy. Get into bad situations. Need help with their schoolwork. No matter how well u know them in high school. They always change somehow. Plus you save money on stocking an apartment with required items like furniture, small appliances etc. I totally agree with waiting a while and seeing how it goes. Moving out when you get a job is a grand idea. Even better to wait a month or two to save up money from your new income. Really no need to rush head first into life. It comes fast enough ready or not.

Wow at 7 chapters. I'm in night classes and have covered chapters 1 & 3. Plus maybe 4 lab exercises. We go back and cover chapter 2 after our test on Thursday evening. Our teachers goal is to cover the first 10 chapters in A&P 1 and the next 10 in A&P 2.

Mine is Thursday evening. Combined test I believe. I've studied all day today by re-reading my chapters. Previously just studied power points and quizlets by random ppl on the subjects.

I started at age 17 in 2000. I took night classes when I was in high school. Then straight to jr college in 2001. Graduated that in 2003 and on to senior college until 2007. Took a 2 yr break and got masters courses complete in 2011. Still can't get a job so back to nursing prerequisites at the jr college. Full circle. I only needed 2 classes to get in but I'm taking all the extras like psychology, human growth and development and nutrition to get them out of the way. I would only have to take 2 courses a semester when I get in the program.

I suggest going about things in reverse slightly. Make an appointment with the senior college and visit with advisors in each area your interested in. Tell them you will be starting at a junior college in a certain program and are curious as to what will actually transfer to their program. Get them to print it out and go home to compare. They will push you to go there immediately of course.

My exam got pushed back as well. Instead of being this Thursday it will be the next. We weren't able to finish covering all of our basic cell biology this past Thursday evening by 9:30 and I guess he was getting a few glazed over eyes in the class so we had to cut it off for the night. All of this information is like review to me though. Lots of biology and covering cells in my previous biology/zoology classes I took for my first degree. Only the body regions/planes were a bit tougher since I was learning that for the first time. Test on valentines day kind of cruddy. I don't even know if we leave after the test or wait around and have more class time. On a side note- I need to study some more. Nutrition class online is taking over my life!

I would just retake prerequisite classes you need a better grade in. 15 classes is too many.

There are many government programs that can assist with your situation. My cousin had just turned 18 and found herself in your situation with twins. The government paid for day care, cell phone, and medical for the babies while she is a full time student also receiving free tuition. I hate it a little that my taxes get her everything for free and I have to work my butt off to pay for everything. But everybody needs help sometimes. Go see your local department of human services and they should be able to assist with all your problems. The deadbeat dad can be arrested for not following through with his payments or at the least his wages garnished at his place of employment if you know where that is. The daycare help would also allow you to work a part time job (often available at the school for students with a documented need). Good luck!

The second schedule would make you more appealing. Take anything medical oriented you could. Look into the other medical programs and see if you could add anything from them like medical terminology or something from surgical tech division. You could probably get multiple associates degrees that way.
