  1. Unfortunately at my new job I feel the same way!
  2. If you do mention the baby at home just make sure you tell them you have reliable daycare and backup daycare for emergencies.
  3. My test date was December 29th a few years ago and I passed. I know everyone pretty much answered your question but schools are also being measured on first time pass rates. It would throw everything off if people were being failed on purpose. Anyway, good luck!!!!
  4. I went to Stone. I feel the program was ok. Of course there are others who felt poorly about the program but if you make a real effort you will do fine! My only complaint was the tuition. It was very expensive compared to the state programs.
  5. Thanks for the tips. When blood test show positive for hsv but they don't have an active outbreak or never had an outbreak the providers like me to word it as you don't have active HSV but you have been exposed to it. Then I get is there a cure question and how do I have it if I don't have an outbreak. I think it may be my word play now that I'm seeing it all typed out. ;-)
  6. Does anyone have any tips on telling a patient that they were exposed to herpes? I feel that I am causing confusion when I call a patient these results.
  7. I agree! Enjoying your job means so much more. And those hospital jobs are overrated but of course there are those people who think you are not a real nurse if you don't work in that environment.
  8. Congrats on becoming a nurse!! But I am also curious as the previous posters on why would you waste so much money taking a test multiple times you didn't prepare for?
  9. From my experience HR always consider internal candidates first. Often jobs are posted externally a few weeks after they are posted internally.
  10. In my LPN program we didn't have an ER rotation. I know that in most hospitals this would be more of an RN role. What I know now is based on personal experience going to the ER. In my situation there was one nurse that takes the vitals then puts you in a room. Once you are in a room you are assigned a different nurse. Is the first nurse you see the triage nurse? What else is done in this role. Is there a difference in roles or responsibility from the nurse you have once your in a room?
  11. Doctor offices and clinics are definitely a good choice. Yea you may not do basic hospital skills but you use a whole different set of critical thinking. All of the offices I have worked utilizes nurses as well as MAs.
  12. Good luck!!!!
  13. I'm confused at the whole LPNs being saddened by their career choice statement. But just like you were offensive in this post (even though you may not have done it intentionally) it maybe a similar situation at your job. It sounds like you are a floor nurse just like the LPNs and not in a supervisory role so you can start by treating your coworkers like your equals. It could also be you're looking for negatives since this was your last resort for a job.
