  1. HESI @ Gloucester County College

Hey Red! Thanks for the post! I've heard that about science part of the HESI Guide as well. And the GED Math book was helpful? Maybe I'm over thinking it. Did you take the exam yet and if so, did you take it at GCC and how'd you do?
  2. HESI @ Gloucester County College

Has anyone recently taken the HESI Entrance at GCC? I'm scheduled to take it next month and was wondering which areas I should concentrate. Also, would anyone happen to know what kind of scores I'll need to stay competitive for admission? Thanks.

Great story and thanks for sharing it with us! Bookmarked!
  4. I smoke and 9 times out of 10, someone I just meet has no idea that I do. There are steps any smoker can take that will insure that they don't trail it around with them like Pig Pen. I'm not talking about drowning yourself in perfume or cologn, which...
  5. You are absolutely right. And not to be argumentative, it IS a choice. A personal choice, just like any other personal choice. Another personal choice would be the kind of car you drive or how a person CHOOSES to drink their coffee. None of the above...

  8. Gained Experience

I just got a call from my friends wife who is a veterinarian. She just found out I was a nursing student and said that at any given time at her practice, 1/3 to 1/2 of her tech staff are nursing students who are trying to build a basic skill set befo...
  9. Gained Experience

Thanks for the reply Devon! And that's almost exactly what she said to me. Drawing blood, IVs, meds, vitals, charting, etc., some level of basic learning that could easily be translated into human care. Thanks again!
  10. 2nd degree nurses

This is my situation decsribed to a tee. I've been a software developer/project manager for almost 20 years and worked for some of the world's largest companies as an employee or contractor. There is still room for more advancement, promotions, pay i...
  11. HESI @ Gloucester County College

I was thinking 85-90% as well. Which HESI Study Guide did you read through? I see mixed feelings on many of the guides that are "recommended". I'll be taking the HESI at the beginning of December for the first, and hopefully only, time. The only reas...

  16. HESI @ Gloucester County College

Thanks Red! Our HESI has Bio, Chem, Grammar, Reading, Critical Thinking, and Vocab. We need at least 80% to pass each section, but just because we pass each section doesn't secure us a spot. Each school is different in what sections are on the exam. ...
  17. HESI @ Gloucester County College

Sorry about the location. I was going to put it in the HESI forum first, but thought since it's a New Jersey school......
  18. I'm at a crossroads and would like some input from those who have come before me, who also may have been in a similar situation. Basically this post will boil down to one question. Would leaving my current profession, while a pre-nursing student, to ...
  19. Experience vs. Reward: Working in the field

Thanks carakristin1. Volunteering somewhere is what my wife and I trying to work into my schedule right now. It sounds like you've got all of your ducks in a row and a strong plan of attack. It's sounding more and more like getting a foot in the door...

  21. Experience vs. Reward: Working in the field

Thanks CDE. That free tuition has GOT to be nice! I'm jealous. But alas, I too have a family, mortgage, bills, etc. and would squeek by if I left my current job. The experience would be good for me, but not at the expense of my family's well-being.

  24. Experience vs. Reward: Working in the field

Thanks Ayvah. Your reply helped me out a lot. After a long talk with my family, I've also decided to stick with my current profession and then move over after I have at least 1 or 2 semesters under my belt. It sounds like to me that the value of the ...
