BSN. I went to college right after high school and wanted "the college experience" hence why I went to a 4 yr school. I went to a private college because I was awarded a scholarship, lived at home, worked part time jobs for out of pocket expenses and my mother also helped.

I turn 23 tomorrow :) . Graduated out of nursing school on May 18. No kid, no husband, but a boyfriend. I went to college for my BSN right out of high school and worked 40+ hours and graduated with good grades. Can you do it? yes. Is it hard? Absolutely. Juggling everything is hard but if this is something you want, just work hard and have faith. Good luck!!!

I read ahead and it was helpful to me. What I did differently was asking those ahead of me for the syllabus and textbook just so I knew specifically what to read. I also emailed my professors for the next semester to give me tips on what I should do before coming into their class; some responded by emailing me their syllabus and some did not. Like what aubgurl said, read chapters on Vital signs, assessment etc, things you know will definitely be covered

I am currently a tech in a trauma ICU and even did my externship in the same unit. I go to work everyday and treat it like a clinical experience, meaning showing up on time, looking professional, going above and beyond for the nurses, etc. Every nurse has their own way so it definitely took some time to know each nurse's way so you will learn that as you go along. If you feel there is nothing to do, find something to do like stocking the rooms or fixing up the nursing unit. Do not be idle. These nurses talk among each other and things might go back to the manager. This can be your job interview, you never know. I got the externship on my unit because the nurses told me they liked me and rallied for me. The nurses can make or break this opportunity for you. Also, it is a great learning experience. Ask questions, seem interested in what they are doing, be open and willing to learn anything. If the nurses see that, they will take you under your wing and mentor you. The nurses I work with have definitely had a great impact in my nursing career. I learned more as a tech and an extern than I ever did my four years of nursing school

Today was my nursing pinning ceremony. It was such a beautiful ceremony and to see all my friends accomplish this dream of ours was truly bittersweet. My mother is a NP and having her pin me made it a much more special moment. Its very surreal and I cannot believe the past four years is already gone. To those of you in nursing school, you can do it. It is a lot of work, sweat, tears, sleepless nights but it is truly worth it :)))

Sorry you did not get the job? What was the application process like? I plan on applying for the May 2013 opening and wanted to know who to address a cover letter to.

Hi guys, I need help in terms of applying for the nj nclex. I know some of my friends who graduated this year and have still not received their Att. I will like to take my test as soon as I graduate and will just need steps on how to do that. Is it advisable to send my application around march and when I graduate my school can send what I need? Also in the state of NJ, which is the best to apply, the online application or mail in application? Thanks
