22 going on 23 and in my first semester of pre-reqs. Definitely not too old to pursue Nursing or any other major. As long as it's what's best for you and your future, go for it.

I am also taking only two classes per term. Also studying to CLEP a few so that it will be a bit quicker and lessen my load towards the program. Plus, I'll be able to dedicate my time to A&P when it comes time to take it. Determined to ace those courses.

Same exact boat! Graduated in 08 and messed up my first year of CC. Took a break, had my son in 2011, became a certified pharm tech, and working in the pharmacy now. Felt that it was a good time to go back to school and work towards my ADN/BSN. I'm starting from rock bottom with pre-reqs but have a better mentality then when I did fresh out of HS.

Returning back to school after figuring out that I wanted to become an RN. Going PT until I can get back FA due to messing up my first year there. Have to pay out-of-pocket until then. Luckily I was able to get a $500 Fresh Start scholarship thru my CC. So I have a long way to go until I'm done with pre-reqs. Fall 12: Comp I (online - 2nd 8 weeks) Medical Terminology Studying to CLEP the majority of my pre-reqs so that I can focus all on my science courses and to finish pre-reqs quicker as well.

How was your schedule looking like (how many credit hours)? I'm sure they could have asked if you could take one/two of your courses in the Spring term. Getting your CNA certification is important as well. It would give you experience once you found a job in the field plus an income while going to NS. Sorry to hear that they dropped you. I would contact them and ask about re-enrolling if you decide to drop one or two courses that you could do in the Spring.

Is Valencia highly competitive for entrance into their concurrent program? I see that you need a minimum of 2.5 overall GPA but I'm sure all those that were accepted had higher GPAs than that.

Will be taking CNA courses in the Spring term and will also be taking pre-reqs along with it. Advisor thought it would be best for me to get my CNA license and work in the field to get more points towards admission into the RN program.

Good luck :) I'm studying to CLEP Sociology and Psychology. Kind of intimidated by the algebra but I know a refresher should help me as I'm not that bad with algebra.

It looks like they are stating that you need to have a CNA/SRNA license and take an approved CNA/SRNA course to even take the exam. I know some schools having become a CNA/SRNA is one of their requirements for getting into their RN program. CNA courses are between 2-6 weeks long through various places, not sure where in KY as I live in IL. But you can do it simultaneously with your pre-reqs, I'm sure.

I'm taking English I and Medical Terminology this Fall. Going slow as I don't want to burden myself going FT and working at the same time. Plus, I'm going on a cruise for a week in September and don't want to be behind in a bunch of classes. I'm also preparing to CLEP out of Intro to Sociology and Intro to Psychology. Plan to CLEP out of as many pre-reqs as I can so that I can focus on the science courses as I know I need to get the best grades possible in those courses.

See about the CNA courses at your CC. The CNA courses here in Peoria, IL at (ICC) are a semester long, roughly 7 credit hours, so you could still fit in your pre-reqs geared toward the RN program. This would be the best option since you're looking to get experience and earn an income while attending school instead of waiting until you're accepted into the RN program and completing a year in the program.

I didn't think to look on Craigslist. Rather help a student get rid of textbook and earn a bit of cash than buying from online :)

What s/he said. I had become a certified pharmacy tech back in Nov 2011 and it took me a long time to find a job within my field due to the local vocational school saturating the market. I didn't give up, I instead found a part time job that would get me by until something came up (i didn't stop hunting) and I finally got into the pharmacy last month. I was in the plans of making my move to Florida early if I couldn't find anything here since the market for pharm techs are better than here in Peoria, IL but a job fell in my lap after that thought, lol. I know no one has 6-7 months worth of patience on finding a job within your field, but this job market is tough. If you want it that bad, go out and dig for it. Also, learn how to network. If it wasn't for my instructor I wouldn't have gotten this job! The job position didn't even have a posting on the web or anything so you may have to know someone that works at the facility you want to apply because most jobs don't advertise!

That's what I was wondering about also. I guess I can contact the Nursing dept of schools I'm looking to transfer to and see how they determine CLEP scores towards their admissions. Thanks! :)

My CC doesn't give CLEP letter grades and I've checked into other CC/Universities I may transfer to in FL and they don't give letter grades either. But will definitely call the schools to double check.

I know. What I'm asking is do the nursing program just look at the GPA of the courses you didn't CLEP out of but still see you as completing pre-reps with CLEP.

Just wanted to know of anyone's experience that have CLEP'd some courses and got accepted into the nursing program. Knowing that you only get a Pass and no grade for it, how did they factor your pre-req GPA if you CLEP'd out of some courses? Hope I'm making sense, lol.
