  1. Use CLEP or Uexcel for Sociology and ALEKS beginning algebra for the math. Check cram.com for soc flashcards. For the nursing exams get studygroup101, in my opinion they were better than TCN modules cause everything you could possibly need was included. Good luck
  2. I believe ALEKS courses are ACE credits, CLEP is CLEP exams only.
  3. You could ask your advisor if you can take the CLEP or DSST math, the Uexcel College Writing fulfills the written english - I don't know if the Contemporary math Uexcel is the right one - they are both $95, but others have taken ALEKS math online for their credit.
  4. The content guide outline 'highlights' what's important on the exam. I used studygroup101 study guides for all my exams and I highly recommend them - did not care for lisa arends 'notes' which are from 10 years ago. Review patho for diseases from the content guide and nursing interventions. Get the practice exams and see where your weak areas are and go back over them - also try YouTube for videos on specific conditions.
  5. check this link for a current discussion of the same question: https://allnurses.com/nursing-online-distance/fastest-easiest-RN-835475.html
  6. Go to excelsior college website and download the nursing catalog. It has all the info there - you don't need a third party to get your degree!
  7. Excelsior College | National exams for credit - There is a list of clep, dsst, uexcel and other exams that EC accepts and I think it has the 'equivalent' listed.
  8. For clep you need to register on their site, I don't believe you need a student ID, alot of people take the exams without being enrolled at a school. Then when you do enroll you can have your transcripts sent to whereever...
  9. EC accepts most (but not all) CLEP, DSST and UexCel exams - they are challenge exams, study and take the exam and you get credit - the good thing about CLEP & DSST is they are less than $100 - cheaper than taking a class! So alot of people try to get their pre-reqs done like intro to psych, intro to soc, humanities, etc. through CLEP or DSST
  10. Career Learning Center is not a "school" they are a publisher of study guides and a tutoring center, they are not affiliated with Excelsior and they do not grant credit for any courses - exams are taken through Excelsior, CLEP, DSST or Uexcel - which you could do all on your own if motivated and you'd save $$ by not using a middleman.
  11. Welcome! Wow, almost done - practice care plans........
  12. Practice , Practice , Practice!!! It's the only way to get comfortable enough to do it - anxiety/nerves are the biggest thing that throws everyone off because on any normal day, not one of us would forget to wash our hands right? - If you know your stuff the EC way and start saying everything out loud - seriously! , and you will conquer!! - I hear Utica is great, I went to Madison. Good Luck!! :)
  13. 16 months start to finish, took the NCLEX in December and passed with 75 questions! Try to get most of your pre reqs done before you enroll by clep or dsst then you might not have to pay the 2nd year fee. As for the CPNE - nerve racking but doable! Confidence and keeping your anxiety under control is the key to the clinical and do everything exactly the way the carjack tells you. It's probably a good thing that there is a 3-6 month wait - it really gives you time to concentrate and practice. I do recommend studygroup101 study guides, they were invaluable to me.
  14. If your ANP is less than 5 years old you shouldn't have to retake it, but as for the exam - if it's denied, appeal - because you've already had ANP it might not be so bad as it will be a review of what you had before. Also, online schools are the thing now and more and more colleges are and will be going to online or telecourses so the stigma of an online degree will be less every year until eventually it is the norm. Online courses save the colleges thousands because they can charge the same but not have to maintain a physical classroom - this is the future! Take a couple CLEP exams - like psychology or life span development - this will get you in the groove for online/self paced learning and might help you to relieve some of your anxiety - CLEPs are only about $80 and can be tested at a local college. Clep & Dsst exams accepted by EC section 3: http://www.excelsior.edu/c/document_library/get_file?uuid=969eaa1d-b672-4eaf-8576-f3afcce7119e&groupId=78666
  15. Yes - You should cancel your contract! Send it certified mail with signature immediately!!! If you don't cancel within 3 days you are stuck. You can enroll and go through Excelsior College directly and save several THOUSAND dollars! I've read that alot of the TCN study guides don't cover the stuff on the exams very well. You can get study guides way cheaper, even the TCN ones on ebay or amazon with no contract!
  16. EPatient? Is that information literacy? You'll probably have to take math now too
  17. How long did you study for your exam? What scores did you get on the practice exams from EC? How did you do on the practice quizzes in the study guide? Is this your first exam? Test anxiety? What do you think was the reason you didn't pass this exam? You didn't mention any of these so I am wondering because I used studygroup101 study guides almost exclusively even though I did also purchase the textbooks and passed all the exams, and I think they are awesome. If you talk to an advisor, sometimes you can get permission to re-take in 30 days. But you need to figure out what went wrong so you can correct your study habits so you don't have to go through it again.
  18. No, if you take a class (they are full I've read - until 2015) and you cannot finish before 8 weeks because there are weekly assignments - also they cost $1300. What exam did you fail and what study material did you use, if you don't mind me asking?
  19. the sg101 studyguide looks good, i got it about a month ago and it has video links, quizzes and excercises for assessment and delegation and the other areas. i would recommend getting it a few weeks before so you can practice up beforehand, which is what i did - starting fcca next week also.
  20. Chancellor's is a publishing company, just like the others....and overpriced, just like the others...
  21. It's easy - you shouldn't have any problem passing it.
  22. Nat - you need to empty your message folder!!
  23. If you find any wrong answers you should report them so they can be corrected - Kay was very receptive when I reported an error.
  24. I have a friend in a formal, very reputable ADN nursing program, and they are indeed doing care plans. She was just complaining that her first one was 35 pages, but she now has it down to 10. IMHO anyone can click some little boxes on a screen, but shouldn't you know the how and why of a care plan? And the CPNE manual tells you everything you need to know - if your coworker said she would keep the patients head up, my question would be 'how?' - a pillow? ? - The manual says 'elevate to 45 degree angle' so that is what I'm gonna say. A small thing - yes, but we need to be precise and exact, we aren't gonna be there to 'wing it'. The CPNE is to show the examiners that you do indeed know your stuff - and I intend to be one of the majority (63% isn't it?) who pass the first time. That would be my 2 cents.....
