Good luck to you. I will be a 2nd year ns starting Monday. The one big thing that helped me is not to focus on everything that has to be accomplished or graded on. I did that my first semester and almost had a nervous breakdown. I just could not see how all of this was going to be accomplished by myself in 16 weeks. So I got a monthly calendar, which I still do, which fits in my binder and I only look at what's due and going on for that week. Trust me when I say your instructor will definitely remind you when a test is coming, they always do. Keep you faith on high and cry if you need to cry but then tell satan to step back because we got things to do.

Okay but this may look very dumb. I apologize for the confusion in advance :-) 40g/500ml = 3g/x ml cross multiple and I get x = 37.5 ml/hr. So since its 3 g to infuse over 30 mins then its rate is 6 ml/hr. This may be wrong but this is honestly how far I can go. And would the infusion pump limit be 500 ml?

EVERYDAY!!!!

I just finished my first week of ns and I am still just trying to absorb it all in, I guess. It's was a lot of information thrown in different ways by four instructors for classroom, lab, and clinical and I still scratch my head as to why the school considers this just a 8 credit course (part time). lol. My plan is to focus on no more than a week or two at a time because if I think about everything our instructors went over on the syllabus, a meltdown will be the least of my issues. Hopefully I can find at my YMCA a nice yoga or meditation class because I really need it. Good luck to everyone starting, in the middle, and finishing nursing school this semester. We will make it.

Chemistry wasn't my friend either but I made a "B" in the class. Use this second chance to study a lot before class begins. See if there are any youtube chemistry lectures or other websites about chemistry you can view online. I know that sometimes its good to hear information again from somewhere else before it sinks in. Do your chapter reviews in your textbook and if you still don't understand sign up for tutoring when school begins. If its available take up the offer. You can do it, just stay focus. Sorry to hear about your car, mine was in the shop too so I feel you. This semester I took Med. Terminology -A, Nutrition -A, and Spanish 111 + lab -A. I can't believe fall semester starts in two more weeks for me. Good luck to you and to everyone else.

I know that I'm going to see some things that may blow my mind BUT the biggest stressor for me is the possibility of hurting someone more than the reason they are present in the medical facility. You can do whatever you put your mind to. You know your situation better than any of us and the way I see it is that the nursing profession will always be around. So step the way you see fit but the most important thing to remember is that you must commit to it 100%. Me and you are the same age and I am a wife and mom of 3. And was the BIGGEST procrastinator EVER, no lie!! I've worked in the medical field for over ten years and I always told myself "I'ma go back to school" just like a broken record over and over again. I finally went back to school fall 2012 and now I am starting the ADN program in one month by the grace of GOD. For so many years I've been listening to the devil in my head tell me that I can't do this, I'll never pass that, and I don't have the time to do this and I finally told him to get out the way and shut the bleep up and look where I am now. Have faith and good luck to you and whatever path you decide to take. :)

I totally get you all points and I've decided to definitely take my first semester in nursing school alone. We get the summer term 2015 off, so hopefully I can take elementary spanish 2 then, that is if I don't forget what I will learn this summer. lol Thank you so much for your posts and thank you for your honesty.

I agree with the others. If I were in your shoes, I would stay at the school, take the same class over with the same instructor over, sit in the front of the class and show your school that this was a mistake that will absolutely never happen again. As a matter of fact, I would probably sit in the front row in all of my future classes until I get my degree. None of us can judge you, only God can and He knows your heart and trust me when I say between you and Him, He has already forgiven you even when people on earth can not. Be strong and do not give up because WE make the devil happier when we do.

Hi you guys, first of all I am happy to say that I am no longer a pre-nursing student, thank you very much. But I decided to take some extra classes this summer for enhancement and bring my gpa up even higher. One of those classes is elementary spanish 1 and there is a lab that goes with it too. I hope to soak in as much spanish as possibly can and then take elementary spanish 2 my first semester of nursing school. Is this a smart decision to make or am I in way over my head? You guys know how first semester is and I would greatly love any opinion, please. Thanks a lot.

Hi BeccA81494, I am also starting nursing school this fall and I just finished taking a cna 1 course that is required to get into the program. But even if it was not required, the experience was truly an eye opener in getting me a little bit more comfortable taking care of patients (mainly residents at a nursing facility). I was not sure how gentle or how not so gentle to be like when bathing someone, brushing their teeth, helping them get dress and stuff like that. The clinical experience helped me a lot so to answer your question I would say "yes" but it is totally up to you. Good luck on your journey through nursing school.

Congratulations!!!!! I am 32 yrs old too and I had to take the teas v twice before I passed it. I also got accepted to the ADN program starting this fall. Let's keep our minds focus on our goal and less on problems and distractions. And pray to God to take them away, we will be alright. Good luck to you.
