  1. To be honest I don’t feel it was hard at all. I got my first nursing job at a county hospital in Miami in the ED. They were hiring like crazy. I moved to Houston 5 months ago. I can tell you that my new ED is also hiring like crazy. I have never been to an ED that isn’t hiring like crazy. ED’s are the new revolving door specialties. People get burnt out from being physically and mentally drained for the entire 12 hours every time you’re at work. I would apply apply apply. I know you’ll get in. Don’t quit, go for what you want. You got this!
  2. I'm not going to over complicate this answer. You don't know me but trust me all of us here have been where you're at. Soooooo, trust me, it gets better. You will become more efficient and learn your own way of getting things done. You'll learn that you can't do everything and you'll make peace with that. In less than a year you'll be a sarcastic jaded nurse like the rest of us. Lol, hang in there, I promise you're going to enjoy the freedom that being a nurse gives you when you're not at work.
  3. Not sure when this was from but I think the starting rate for a new grad nurse is $26.57.
  4. I never really had a good study habit foundation and have had to learn how to make it effective for me. This article had some great tips. Thank you so much for this.
  5. Man do I need I need help in Pharm. I am in Pharm 1 now in my nursing program and I am failing by 3 points. We only have 2 test and a final in this Pharm which I think is asinine but hey I'm just a student so what do I know. It's still doable for me but I need to score a low 80 from 75 questions. Pharmacology seems so hard. I am going to try to see if I can break it down into sections the way some of you have suggested, thanks for the incite.
  6. I'm in my second semester at the Davie campus. You don't have a whole bunch of classes on the same day so you don't need to upgrade your book bag. However, if you stay at school to study after class and don't like having to walk back to your car I might consider another bag. I've seem people with huge bags, people with just the string style light bags, and people with no bags. It's really just up to your preference. Also, some books you can get in ebook format if you're comfortable with that.
  7. You'll be fine, just put in the work. I wasn't trying to scare you, just help what you're focusing on. Definitely pay attention to anatomy but focus most of your energy on physiology. The anatomy is just like the prerequisites anatomy so if you keep that fresh in your mind you'll be good. The physiology however is much more detailed than in the prerequisites. I would read up on the physiology of all the body systems you went through in your prerequisites. Again, just work at it and you'll do great.
  8. Haha, I love the reply. I'm only in my first semester at a University in South Florida but my wife who is a nurse believes I would like neuro ICU. First post that came up when I decided to get some info. Congratulations on passing your NCLEX in 75 questions and officially becoming an RN. Haha, awesome reply.
  9. Haha, enjoy your free time now, Gigi, you're hilarious! She's right though, time will not be your friend but it is definitely doable if your willing to work for it. For me so far physio has been a humbling experience. I'm use to getting A's and it is not happening for me so far the first semester. Congrats to all that have been accepted. It's a great school and so far the professors have been extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Personally, the cohort I came in with during Winter of 2014 are a great bunch of people, I hope you guys are fortunate enough to have the same. Study up on your anatomy, but really study up on your physiology. At Nova, they are credited as one class but it's really two separate classes. The anatomy and physiology professors are fantastic though and they do a great job of explaining the material. Understanding the concepts is entirely up too you.
  10. Sewn, not seen. Predictive text is very annoying.
  11. Congratulations bruh! I just got accepted into Nova SouthEastern University program in Ft. Lauderdale for the 2014 Winter term. I'm not planing on working personally but I too have a great woman who is holding me down. We planned this a few years back. I put her through nursing school and now she is returning the favor. I was just looking around at this section and read the reply post from everyone. Just wanted to let y'all know that you guys are awesome positive people and I appreciate y'all also. Lol, feeling the positivity on this thread. Again, congratulations bruh. Now let's get it!
  12. I appreciate the heads up. Pretty sure all of us know that nursing school is not at all easy. We got this far so, so pretty sure we know that its going to take a major amount of studying, and that our social life will take a turn towards disappearing.
