  1. I would call and see what they say. Might be something small that you need to improve on. I always take criticism positivity. Can only help you in the long run. We are blinded to our faults sometimes
  2. I work 3-11 in ltc in central pa. I get to work at 14:45. Count narcs and check prns. Get a good report from my day shift nurse Write down who my chem sticks and who I need vitals for. Start my 4 o'clock med pass which I usually start around 3, 3:15 ish and finish by 4. Pour my creams and other treatments that the aides do with care. Take off orders while listening for alarms and call bells. Between 4 and 5 almost all the aides are in the dining room. So it's pretty much me on the floor by myself. Go to lunch at 5. Come back at 5:30. Get my vitals for the next med pass and put the creams in the residents rooms. Take more orders off until 630,645 when I start my 8 o'clock med pass. Do my med pass and any body checks that need done. Usually finish around 9, 9:30 Do any wound treatments that the aides can't do. Chart behaviors and mds Make sure I do my i&os. Take off the rest of the orders. Give report to supervisor. Then give report and count narcs with night nurse.
  3. I make 18 an hour as a new grad at a ltc in central pa. About the norm around central pa for ltc
  4. I work in ltc and I have a resident who gets lantus and the order reads to hold it if not eating. I usually give it to her and give a hs snack. Her sugar is never low enough that I don't feel comfortable not giving if
  5. 18 a hour at a ltc in pa
  6. Not all sim dummies are like that. Ours just sit there and have their mouth open
  7. I've gained weight. I was 119 for probably four years and since July I am up to 127. I can't stop eating
  8. I like the first ones better
  9. In my nursing school they told us to only do what we are comfortable with. And support your patients and if you absolutely do not feel comfortable tell them you'll call their pastor or whomever to do the ritual or prayer with them.
  10. I also love the conversation I can have with my grandma because she's a lpn. Everyday after clinical I call her up and tell her what I did"
  11. And at my school we only get one pt so it gets kinda boring at times after you finished everything and they're taking nap. You can use that time to chart but its hard to find a spot to sit sometimes!
  12. At my school we are only allowed to bring what fits in our pockets! Which is a few pens, high lighter, penlight, various "cheat sheets" and our clinical book with everything we have to pass on
  13. I love how close you become to your classmates. They become family and everyone wants the best for everyone
  14. Most people in my PN program are over the age the 30. There's only 3 of us under the age of 21, out of a class of 30
  15. You get excited when you do your first rectal temperature
  16. I wouldn't do the ma program. I heard they get paid very Low and its not worth the money you spend for school
  17. I started school in July since then I've had so many ups and Downs and want to quit sometimes. But I think of my goal and keep pushing. I 1/4 way done. Half then time I have no idea what the teachers are talking about and clincals scare the crap out of me, but I know I can do it. So can you. Remind yourself everyday what goal is and how worth it it'll be after you graduate
  18. I'm in tears! I feel so sad going into ltcs but coming out and knowing I made a difference in someones life is what I live for
  19. FLASHCARDS! Flash cards were my savior when it came to Anatomy. took the final two weeks and got a 90 on it and 86 final grade, and without flash cards idk what i would have got!
  20. I've been in school a month and a half. So far out of 32 students no one has dropped out. And the last 6 classes that graduate have had a 100 percent pass rate on the nclex.
  21. Index cards. Lots and lots of them
  22. Even if you don't want it to happen. But if you really love her you'll focus on her and not other girl who catch your eye
  23. I think your girlfriend has a valid fear. You will be around a lot of females and naturally being around new people can spark interest. People change and things happen.
  24. I think I might go with a pair of rockports for 60 bucks. I tried them on and they were amazing. I definitely think comfort is worth the price. I have needy feet. Lol
  25. I don't think it matters what people think I am. I know I'm becoming a nurse. And the people I will take care of will be grateful for my caring. As long as I'm taking care of people and appreciated by my pts. That's all that matters
